Talk:Galaxy
Do you want I add a section about galaxy interactions and mergers as well as where galaxies live (groups and clusters)?. I've my doubts about adding them. --Panzerfaust (talk) 23:27, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
- What are your reservations? --It's-a me, LeftyGreenMario! 23:50, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
- Just that I'm unsure if either the former or especially the latter would deserve an independent article. --Panzerfaust (talk) 13:03, 25 March 2017 (UTC)
Missionality of this article?[edit]
Keeping in mind that we are not an encyclopedia. Reverend Black Percy (talk) 11:20, 28 March 2017 (UTC)
The great debate?[edit]
If rational wiki is designed to call out bullshit, then a page on galaxies could possibly contain the realization that scientists argued for them being literally new solar systems, and not collections of billions of solar systems. People don't know this because it is assumed we always knew what they were, but it was a huge controversy before the 1920's. Hell, even Einstein thought the Milky Way was the entire universe. No shit. 100% serious. People forget how far we've come, and they pit history with our current understanding of nature, we view past beliefs without realizing we are taking our own perspective with us. It is obvious to us now, but back then it was serious talk. If rational wiki is going to be calling out bullshit, we need to take a historical perspective of it, because sometimes, bullshit is the truth, and galaxies really are not forming solar systems, but entire 'universes' in their own right.Roo (talk) 15:51, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
