Isn't My Beautiful Laundrette sort of half gay themed? I've never seen it but that's the impression I've got. ToastToastand marmite 21:46, 9 April 2009 (EDT)

Haven't seen it either. If the Wikipedia article is right the gay theme is pretty overt. Secret Squirrel 22:06, 9 April 2009 (EDT)
What self-respecting gay guy doesn't have a copy of Xanadu in his DVD collection? Mega 22:26, 9 April 2009 (EDT)
This one. MDB (the MD is for Maryland, the B is for Bear) 12:37, 22 October 2012 (UTC)
Xanadu? Ewww. Well, there was also Can't Stop the Music, in which somebody convinced the Village People to play a bunch of straight guys on film to cash in on disco. Not that it should be included on any list except maybe worst films of the 70s. Secret Squirrel 23:28, 9 April 2009 (EDT)

Not really sure what this article is trying to achieve AMassiveGay (talk) 23:33, 9 October 2012 (UTC)

ParaNorman[edit]

Saying ParaNorman "has a sub-plot about Norman's older sister, Courtney, falling in love with a likeable gay jock named Mitch" vastly overstates that plot point. The audience doesn't find out Mitch is gay until a quick line at the end where he mentions his boyfriend. It's really just a joke, not a sub-plot. Male domination.[edit]

The vast majority of the films are about (or seem to be about) male gays. Does this reflect the actual situation of mainstream gay films or is there some subtle selection bias at work here?--Weirdstuff (talk) 13:59, 22 October 2012 (UTC)

There are tons of lesbian themed films. AMassiveGay (talk) 01:14, 6 February 2013 (UTC)

True, but a wide majority of popular LGBT movies are largely about men. I think that this has more to with Hollywood's soft social conservatism regarding women, than any "conspiracy!1!!" 89.152.93.172 (talk) 12:19, 22 June 2015 (UTC)

that isnt true. There are just as many 'popular' lgbt movies about women. it is this article that ignores them. AMassiveGay (talk) 16:52, 22 June 2015 (UTC)

Why is this page still here?[edit]

This page is a mess. Itr appears to be a very short list of films it writers believes might have a gay or two in it. It doesn't even mention any important , cinematically or for gay folk, films. And just what is 'Gay-themed'any way? is about Gays oer just stuff for gays?. Article doesn't make it clear.. Is this about mainstream films? Does this mean produced by a hollywood studio? Do indepenent films get a mention? Any analysis of how gay folk are depicted in the past or present? As I said its a mess, and unless someone can say just what its meant achieve and give it a better title, it cannot be saved. This would be a pity as there is a lot to say about the depiction LGBT folk in Cinema AMassiveGay (talk) 01:39, 6 February 2013 (UTC)

article still shit and pointless[edit]

As a rule, I do not edit main space because I lack the specialist knowledge for most subjects here and I am usually short on details and evidence outside of aneecdote. Plus, let's face it, I'm not that bright. I am prepared to an exception with page because I used to be quite the film buff in the past so actually do know some stuff where to find out stuff, but I still stymied by no it being sure WHAT THIS IS TRYING TO ACHIEVE. Its not 'on mission' per say but the handling of gay themes in cinema is interesting to me. Can someone please put me straight and maybe some pointers on layouts and such like? Thanks AMassiveGay (talk) 10:45, 7 July 2014 (UTC)

Delete?[edit]

FFS, this article is seriously bad - see AMG's remarks above. It starts by defining Gay Themed films as those that piss off the conservative right. Then we have a very selective list of films with no regard to their importance or significance. I mean, But I'm A Cheerleader, lovely little film but it's way cult. Where's Desert Hearts or The Killing Of Sister George or... or... This is so wrong on so many levels. So, yeah, don't moan but fix and I was going to do a re-write but the more I looked the less I can see any point. We are NOT an encyclopaedia and I can't see any way that this could be fixed to be on mission. Doxys Midnight Runner (talk) 09:53, 27 November 2014 (UTC)
