Wow, can't believe you have an article on these guys. I'm moving this since it's a sect of the Goreans (and it's spelled wrong anyway). Nebuchadnezzar (talk) 01:46, 6 August 2011 (UTC)

I have just had that reaction. Immediately followed by the reaction of "footnote 1 is the funniest thing on this wiki" I'll try and hunt out the "Darlington Sex Cult" article from Bizarre, definitely seemed to imply the guy was just a fantasist and didn't really own all these hot chicks who lived for him. I am proud of that footnote. Hard to find objective info on them, some of them seem to just be kinksters with a taste for corny sci-fi, but the Kaotians guy was definitely building a sex cult. Nebuchadnezzar (talk) 20:02, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, but he seemed to have fuck-all actual evidence for it and came across pretty paranoid (assuming we're talking the same thing here). And his relationship with the kid seemed creepy as fuck. Scarlet A.pngbomination 21:09, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
Well, trying to, at least. Nebuchadnezzar (talk) 21:33, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
Ah, updates! Scarlet A.pngpostate 23:32, 10 November 2011 (UTC)

Wow, Goreans! I remember these folk. I had a friend who was extremely hardcore into the Gorean lifestyle, such as it is. She had a "master" - a man who wasn't her husband - who taught her lessons and gave her tasks and crap like that. It transgressed past simple roleplaying into a way of life. Creepy as hell.--ADtalkModerator 21:52, 10 November 2011 (UTC)

You know what? I'm going to read these books.--ADtalkModerator 21:53, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure you don't want to do that. Scarlet A.pngbomination 22:03, 10 November 2011 (UTC)

Outlaw of Gor[edit]

Outlaw of Gor was adapted into a film and later riffed in an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000. I don't know if this merits inclusion, but I'll suggest it here. --TheLateGatsby (The end of the dock ) 15:51, 25 October 2013 (UTC)

To quote MST3K, "sorry folks, but we simply couldn't afford special effects". Scarlet A.pngbomination 01:22, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

I think it deserves mention that this is basically a rip-off of Edgar Rice Burroughs' wp:Barsoom series, down to the naming scheme ("X of Gor" instead of "X of Mars") and the fact that an Earth character has supreme strength compared to the locals because he comes from a higher-gravity world. In Burroughs' books everyone is scantily clad and Martians practice slavery, but threats of sexual violence are used as a character trait of the villains, used as a plot device (the author loooves his damsels-in-distress, though some of them aren't entirely passive) and never fulfilled. Norman apparently read the books and thought "ditch the chivalry, this needs more rape". Ewwwww...--ZooGuard (talk) 10:27, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

Cited[edit] a forum thread about a Gor RPG funded through Indiegogo. Same thread contains a link to the hilarious story of an oblivious guy who realized that a girl was into him only after she proposed playing a Gor-based RPG campaign with him. Anyway, as usually, RW's article could be written much better. I suggest moving it to "Gor" but leaving the "Gorean" redirect intact, as it apparently is an entry point.--ZooGuard (talk) 16:57, 4 October 2014 (UTC)

A goreans opinion[edit]

i don't think i have to say how subjective this is one sided ignoring the philosaphy and values behind gorean deas, i wont say the facts given are wrong but it was cherry picking. Ii know these moronic cults exist those who allways take somthing too far exstremists are the bane of every comunity or ideology, some goreans just follow the 8 philosophies and most could care less about bringing gor to earth we recognise that gor is a harsh world that none of us would survive. If want to talk to a gorean who is not exstremly insane Im open conversation is better way to understand a group of people in such a strange philosophy. (talk) 13:29, 30 November 2017 (UTC)

LynnR means to just type ~ 4 types (usually shift and the key just above the left tab key) rather than copy-paste. Daev (talk) 09:14, 30 November 2017 (UTC)

Gender Equality[edit]

This is linked to in the 'Female Supremacy' article under 'See Also.' Since the female supremacy article rips female supremacy to shreds, isn't it unfair to portray Goreans as these 'wacky sex-perverts' instead of also ripping them to shreds, especially when they are actually hurting women while the biggest crime of a female supremacist is thinking that her gender makes her better? To add onto this, I don't care if you think that Goreans aren't hurting women; piss off with that crap. — Unsigned, by: / talk
