Talk:Hitler and Christianity
Gentlepeople: We already have Adolf Hitler#Religious_beliefs, Nazi#Religion_in_National_Socialism (which amusingly present two completely different interpretations of the subject) and Debate:Was_Hitler_a_Christian?. How much of this... stuff do we really need?
Also, if we must have this, it would really benefit from a few references. --AKjeldsenCum dissensie 10:05, 23 November 2008 (EST)
I've moved this to Positive Christianity. Proxima Centauri 10:42, 23 November 2008 (EST)
- There would seem to be clear elements of crank ideas, pseudo-science and authoritarianism in all things associated with Hitler and the Nazis - so anything associated with them would probably fall quite nicely within our mission statements. How much do we "need"? I don't know but there should be quite a bit of relevant stuff.--Bobbing up 13:11, 23 November 2008 (EST)
Deductio Et Hitlerum is what I believe they call it in the business. Will it ever be possible to criticise something without bringing up irrelevant tangential sideplots? MarcusCicero 13:13, 23 November 2008 (EST)
- Perhaps not, but that's hardly a reason to avoid subjects.--Bobbing up 13:29, 23 November 2008 (EST)
- I'm not arguing that the subject should be avoided entirely, but rather that having three different treatments with basically entirely different interpretations of the same subject seems a bit counter-productive. And again, most of it severely lacks comprehensive references. A few off-the-cuff assertions about what Hitler may or may not have believed backed up by a few bits from Mein Kampf is just not enough. --AKjeldsenCum dissensie 14:48, 23 November 2008 (EST)
- Actually I agree with you. I keep meaning to wade through Mein Kampf and make a note of every reference to God, Christianity, Evolution and Science. I will then write it up here in order to create the ultimate Hitler quote mine on the Internet. I feel sure that it will have something for everyone. And I knew that I'd find a use for that "plotting" gif one day.)--Bobbing up 14:59, 23 November 2008 (EST)
- That sounds like a great and truly bipartisan idea. I think you could publish it: The Quote-miner's Complete Index to Mein Kampf. That could easily sell a few hundred thousand copies. --AKjeldsenCum dissensie 15:09, 23 November 2008 (EST)

So, Bob's publicist ambitions aside, does anyone else have any insights to add to this? I really think it's an issue that needs some attention, because what we have now is... pretty weak. Or should I just go ahead and do whatever I want with it? --AKjeldsenCum dissensie 20:02, 25 November 2008 (EST)
