Delete[edit]

Not fun(ny), nothing to really link it to/from, not really why we're here. TheoryOfPractice (talk) 14:33, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

  • Delete: off mission (as it stands) not "Fun"
  • Delete: no hope. Apart from the NH reference, no redeeming value. Could bask in "fun" if desired. ħumanUser talk:Human 07:23, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

Oppose Deletion[edit]

On the other hand it doesn't do any harm and it's a bit demoralising to poor Wiggles that the first thing he contributes here is almost instantly deleted. He's finding his feet with this, make the poor guy welcome. Bob Soles (talk) 14:42, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
It really doesn't fit our mission, it has no references. TheoryOfPractice (talk) 14:44, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
And it does no harm. Now we've both said the same thing twice. Bob Soles (talk) 14:52, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
And who's this Bob Soles guy to be suddenly defending the noob's article? Writing an article is not necessarily a "first contribution" - usually editing existing articles, and hanging out on talk pages, is. ħumanUser talk:Human 07:24, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

Well, we're not really in the business of supplying medical information that has no citations to reputable sources--insomnia is "usually a symptom of another psychological disorder"?--so in the grand scheme of thing it does do harm by 1. making us look stupid and 2. potentially (though admittedly not likely) having someone out there in internet land think they have something wrong with them that they don't 'cause all they read was our one stupid article. TheoryOfPractice (talk) 15:04, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

it would be nice to be able to start linking to the various causes of incoherency on my most-used template:
Warning: Extreme Incoherency
At least one of the editors involved in this article/discussion was under the influence of:
  • power, absolute power!
  • the sheer joy of discovering that an article mentions dinosaurs
and has lapsed into incoherency. Mind this in bear.

WazzaHello? Is there anybody in there? Just nod if you can hear me... 15:08, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

And I'd love to see some of our more sleep-deprived and funny editors (like Goonie) write a funspace article on the topic. Or an article dealing with woo-cures for insomnia. But there's nothing we can contribute to a straight discussion on the condition that isn't being done in a much better fashion elsewhere. We're not an encyclopedia. TheoryOfPractice (talk) 15:13, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

I am seeing a tendency, though, to delete, rather than modify to bring on-mission. We could do a lot with insomnia... the article just needs Goat! WazzaHello? Is there anybody in there? Just nod if you can hear me... 15:16, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
What he said. Bob Soles (talk) 15:20, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
Which is what I said two comments ago. So somebody fuckin' do it. TheoryOfPractice (talk) 15:32, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
So delete the fucking article then. But you have articles on Multiple Personality Disorder and other mental problems which can be argued as off topic. And ToP, bear in mind that I'm a new editor and try not to be so agressive in claiming the first article a new user writes "stupid". Thanks. Wiggles (talk) 16:07, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
Now, now, calm down, Wiggles. Unfortunately we don't have a Don't bite policy so it's more or less jump in at the deep end. As CP is one of our main topics I don't think that any mental disorder can be off topic. Evilgrin0005.gif I am eating Toast& honeychat 16:13, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
Thinks: If you slip in a quick reference to Ken's occasional 36 hour editing binges, you might solve it. I am eating Toast& honeychat 16:15, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
Would that not be a bit unethical writing about possible/known insomnia sufferers? I know CP and ethics is a bit of weird one, but we shouhld try and avoid stooping to their levels. SJ Debaser 16:17, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
If we stop writing about CP's mental problems, we might as well stop writing about CP altogether. I am eating Toast& honeychat 16:25, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Solutions[edit]

I don't think this needs to be deleted right away, but one thing to keep in mind: We are not Wikipedia, people are not gonna come to us for information on medical or research topics... This article could be fun... But it'll need to be given our special treatment. SirChuckBObama/Biden? 2012 17:40, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Apart from one lame local joke, I see no point for this to survive, even in "fun" (since it ain't funny). I will be summarily deleting per it having no redeeming value, and possibly being a weird attempt to promote a hoity toity linen store. An article on "insomnia" might possibly have a place here (though I doubt in mainspace), but it would only share the words "sleep", "and" and "the" with this one. ħumanUser talk:Human 07:29, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

NOOOOOOO!

Oh well. Wiggles (talk) 14:02, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

Nice try, you can always copy the last version to your user space to work on based on comments? PS, Somnia is next door to The Friendly Toast, right? Do you know this from personal experience, or from googling it? ħumanUser talk:Human 06:06, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
