Talk:Ku Klux Klan
On Gone With the Wind[edit]
I was just watching GWTW this weekend, and regarding the shanty town raid and the Klan... the raid takes place "off camera" as Scarlett and the other ladies sit around sewing and worrying. The men only said beforehand that they were going to a "political meeting".
Whether or not it was a Klan raid is unclear. The men come back dressed in "normal" clothes, not robes, but that was because Rhett Butler had taken them to Belle Whatley's place (pretty clearly a high-class brothel, although never said directly) to provide a cover story, because otherwise, the Union soldiers would have arrested them, and probably hanged them.
So, its not clear whether its a KKK raid or just vigilanteism. — Unsigned, by: MDB / talk / contribs
- My understanding is that in the original novel it's not so disguised. However, I've never read it. Researcher (talk) 22:49, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
Nazareno[edit]
As per a tradition a Roman Catholic in Nazareno, people wear clothing that resembles the KKK but the similarities are purely coincidental. —HamburgerPlate (talk • stalk) 03:33, 7 November 2016 (UTC)

"Anti-black sentiment"[edit]
That phrasing struck me as odd... I suppose there's no such word as "Africanophobia" (at least not as far as I'm aware) because anti-black sentiment is just so common here in America. It's rooted in such a way that there doesn't need to be a special word for it other than "racist". Isn't that fucked up? Vee (talk) 19:56, 21 January 2023 (UTC)
