2025 RationalWiki 'Oregon Plan' Fundraiser

There is no RationalWiki without you. We are a small non-profit with no staff—we are hundreds of volunteers who document pseudoscience and crankery around the world every day. We will never allow ads because we must remain independent. We cannot rely on big donors with corresponding big agendas. We are not the largest website around, but we believe we play an important role in defending truth and objectivity.

Fighting pseudoscience isn't free.

Are crass ad hominem attacks really acceptable here?[edit]

"Narad is a tremendous douche suffering from Dunning-Kruger."

This is just plain rude. It also sounds like the insult a teenager would use. — Unsigned, by: Megsaint / talk / contribs

This seems like an argumentum ad argumentum ad hominem, given that we're not trying to debate their ideas, just stating that they are a tremendous douche suffering from Dunning-Kruger. Ꞩᵽꞧɨꞡꞡɨꞥⱥ (ⱦⱥłꞣ) (ȼøꞥⱦꞧɨƀꞩ) @ 22:57, 17 January 2018 (UTC)
That is a highly subjective opinion, stated in rude, puerile terms. It should have no place here. — Unsigned, by: Megsaint / talk / contribs
@Megsaint On talk pages, please sign your comments using four tildes (~~~~) or by clicking on the sign button: SigButt.png on the toolbar above the edit panel. You can also indent successive talk page comments using one more colon (:) for each line. Thank you. Comrade GC (talk) 14:31, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
I note that this edit was made by former window-washer Travis Schwochert, who has been repeatedly banned for sockpuppetry at RI. Whatever; it's true that the former Herr Doktor Bimler was the wittiest commenter. Might as well stet it. Narad from RI (talk) 21:28, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
