Flag[edit]
Should we make any mention of the Sami flag intentionally not containing a Scnadinavian cross due to the history of oppression? CorruptUser (talk) 22:16, 19 September 2016 (UTC)
- Is that why it doesn't contain that? If you can source that, of course! Reverend Black Percy (talk) 23:16, 19 September 2016 (UTC)
- Closest I have to citation is SATW. CorruptUser (talk) 23:36, 19 September 2016 (UTC)
- It appears to be a complete factoid. Swedish Wikipedia doesn't mention it in its article on the Sami flag, and English Wikipedia explicitly states that the tricolor cross was designed to represent a unification of the flags of the three surrounding nations, not "oppression". - Oppression "of" the Sami "by" Sweden and Norway. CorruptUser (talk) 23:51, 19 September 2016 (UTC)
- Again; read the article. The flag was designed by a Sami woman, then green was added (with reference to Sami culture), and now the flag is accepted and even mandatory to fly on the Sami day in Norway. Basically; a webcomic clearly is not a source. Reverend Black Percy (talk) 23:53, 19 September 2016 (UTC)
- Next you are going to say that xkcd is not infallible. We should purge this heresy! What do you mean arguing for the sake of argument? 00:29, 20 September 2016 (UTC)
