Heard[edit]

From what I've heard, Salafism isn't exactly extremism or about trying to kill all non-Muslims (being at war with them), but basically a very strict interpretation of Islam. Therefore, Salafism doesn't mean extremism/terrorism, but basically fundamentalism and a narrow-minded viewpoint. — Unsigned, by: 104.0.97.154 / talk / contribs

Hey, could we get a few citations on that list of tenets? CorruptUser (talk) 07:09, 3 February 2017 (UTC)

"It is said that non-violent Salafism is the dominant mainstream creed among Middle Eastern Muslims and Arabs."[edit]

Is this true? I don't think so. Lebanese Muslims are pretty strongly Shi'a, as are Iraqis (where Sunnis are a minority) and a pretty hefty chunk of the Yemeni population (the Houthis are a Shi'a movement). Oman is predominantly Ibadi. It is true that Salafism has had an outstanding impact on Islam in the region, but only a minority self-identify as Salafi. Carthage (talk) 15:44, 5 November 2023 (UTC)
