Talk:Salman Rushdie
"but Reagan joined many others in expressing the view that Rushdie must have known what he was getting in to when he wrote the book"
Is this true? The reference doesn't support it, and I couldn't find any other source for the claim.
He should get a pic. Here's the Wikicommons category.205.189.194.208 (talk) 19:01, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
Conspiracies[edit]
I don't have any sources right off the bat, but there were a lot of "Rushdie is dead", "Rushdie was kidnapped", "Rushdie is in hiding" style conspiracies (a la Elvis Presley, Jimmy Hoffa, etc.) Seems like these would be appropriate here, given that he's pretty much been in New York City ever since his fatwas were incurred. -- Seth Peck (talk) 20:00, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
Fatwa vs. Bounty[edit]
I've tidied up (I think) some of the section on the issuing of the fatwa. I think other groups have offered bounties on him so I'll try and add more of that later. Also, if you haven't read any Rushdie you should.:)--SpecialFFrog (talk) 14:19, 9 March 2015 (UTC)
Angry flying books of death![edit]
So apparently there was a movie made about trying to assassinate Salman Rushdie. It ends with flying books of death. I don't know how, but this needs to go in the article. CorruptUser (talk) 05:39, 25 December 2015 (UTC)
His own religion and ideas[edit]
Hasn't Rushdie had a rather complex relationship to Islam, with periods of adherence and rejection? The article could go into his attitude to Islam beyond the Satanic Verses. Also, it would be nice to include something of what he had to say about Pakistan and Indian partition, a major subject of his work. Annquin (talk) 10:00, 26 April 2016 (UTC)
Islamic extremism and The Left[edit]
