Glaring omission[edit]

Star Trek's contribution to grammar. Anna Livia (talk) 14:12, 30 October 2017 (UTC)

Star Trek and science[edit]

There will always be some interplay between SF and prediction of 'technical gizmos' - the producers (TV, authors etc) imagining what is logical/useful/required in that particular context, extrapolating from the present and the scientists, engineers and technicians making use of the ideas suggested/investigating why 'some proposition seems odd, interesting or wrong'). Anna Livia (talk) 19:15, 30 October 2017 (UTC)

Quentyn Quinn, Space Ranger–0014 through Quentyn Quinn, Space Ranger–0044 points out many of the irregularities in Star Trek's Federation with a Q like entity being the reason they even have all that technology in the first place. It also pokes fun at certain episodes.--BruceGrubb (talk) 05:42, 18 July 2022 (UTC)

The fallacy of the Prime Directive[edit]

Logically they will not be able to stop 'evil dictator with doomsday weapon that will cause a tear in the space time continuum', or save someone years of hard work by pointing out where the error in the equation is - and there is human nature/empathy/'I want one of those cool objects' as well as 'those not part of the Federation system who have not signed up to the Prime Directive' etc. Anna Livia (talk) 12:56, 7 June 2018 (UTC)

There is a case for avoiding #unnecessary# interference/making superficial judgements based upon wrong inferences etc.
Court case number (whatever) - 'You were just obeying orders (the Prime Directive), so allowed a lower level culture to suffer from (a natural disaster, dystopia etc etc). Surely you can see this is wrong on all levels?' (With many protests across the worlds/withdrawal from the Federation and realignment to other spacegoing cultures which do allow such intervention/help where necessary etc). Anna Livia (talk) 19:48, 23 May 2021 (UTC)
This actually appeared in the Quentyn Quinn, Space Ranger webcomic as part of a refutation of the short story "The Cold Equation" (The Coldest Equation)--BruceGrubb (talk) 03:28, 18 July 2022 (UTC)

Fan screed[edit]

This page seems to be have turned into more a comment on the fictional universe itself, and more to the point, a single person's option of that fiction then its relation to the world at large. It seems more appropriate for a fan site, then Rationalwiki. --206.116.97.43 (talk) 22:27, 7 June 2018 (UTC)

Typo fix time!

You need to remove that first and last comma. At least "its" is used properly. --It's-a me, Lgm sigpic.png LeftyGreenMario! 00:34, 8 June 2018 (UTC)

Where does this go?[edit]

On this there is a specific category for Star Trek clichés. Anna Livia (talk) 19:49, 23 May 2021 (UTC)
