Transsexual?[edit]
Recently there has been a push by transgender people, even those who are not transmedicalists to reclaim the word Transsexual. Perhaps it would be wise to mention that in the bit on Transsexual — Unsigned, by: 130.88.226.5 / talk
- I find that entry paints too broad a brush. I'm not sure how to rewrite it to reflect the fact that what it says actually is often true, but that there are notable exceptions. I know Julia Serano is anti TERF and self identifies as transsexual. The idea that the term has completely died out as a self identifier except among transmedicalists and self-haters is a misconception. Chillpilled (talk) 16:03, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
- I have removed the transsexual entry as is as I don't find it substantiated enough to be worth inclusion on a TERF glossary page. Not all transphobia is itself TERF-ism, and transmedicalism itself is not *inherently* a TERF ideology, even if it is itself a reactionary ideology. If the terms inclusion is important, I think the best choice would be to include "Transsexual separatist" which I've only seen used in reactionary contexts. This is, however, still a strange inclusion in the TERF glossary for the other reasons I mentioned. Dark pattern witch (talk) 14:54, 18 August 2024 (UTC)
- There's an entry for it on the transgender glossary which may be better. Chillpilled (talk) 16:55, 18 August 2024 (UTC)

"trans trans" seems to be the new one.[edit]
Just saw it on TikTok, where they were "demanding to have their pronouns respected", but they dropped the mask fairly quickly, calling themselves cis and doing the whole fox news anti-trans spiel. — Unsigned, by: 147.129.174.74 / talk / contribs
Cotton ceiling being defended?[edit]
The criticism should be centred over the issue being overblown and/or the TERFs hyper focusing on it to spread their agenda further. The actual term is fucking vile, rapey nonsense. There is no “phenomena” of not wanting to have sex with someone because you deem them undesirable as a physical partner, for *any* reason. Drawing any sort of parallel with something genuinely harmful such as workplace discrimination based on gender is outrageous. Yet this article in its current state makes it abundantly clear that the “cotton ceiling” is a valid concept, which is bullshit. Why is this never aimed at men, by the way?86.158.253.180 (talk) 20:27, 26 June 2023 (UTC)
- This is from some obscure blogger scuffle 10+ years ago somehow adapted into part of a sanctimonious culture war. Including even by media in Britain. Why British journalists are so familiar with TERF blog wars trivia you originally had to be there to know about, I'll leave you to figure out. I couldn't even find a blog by DeVeaux, only a very slim amount of Twitter shitposts, but there were a couple blogs by apparently related people. I did want to find and quote DeVeaux's original statement coining the term so as not to misrepresent the argument, but just one problem. Such an original post does not exist in archives, and far as I can tell, may have never existed. The closest I could find was something seeming to defend the concept from Garmon, apparently DeVeaux's friend at the time. Chillpilled (talk) 16:55, 18 August 2024 (UTC)
Should we add 'Transwoman'?[edit]
It might seem innocuous, but the missing space is working overtime; Though a lot of times it is simply a genuine mistake, when TERFs use it, it's used to imply that Trans Women aren't women. TheOneAndOnlyCirrusMan (talk) 21:13, 29 October 2023 (UTC)
- I think this spelling used to actually be standard, you're correct the more "moderate" TERFs use this though now. Chillpilled (talk) 21:26, 29 October 2023 (UTC)
- You could add it, though do also mention that context matters (it could easily just be an honest rookie mistake), its use as a dogwhistle really is that subtle. --Goatspeed. Stalk me🎄CircularRasoning🎄See my experiments 17:05, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
- I added it a bit ago. Chillpilled (talk) 17:50, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
- And now I'm already thinking about removing it because it's so commonly used as a non-dogwhistle. But, more generally, I feel the glossary needs more entries and I'm just not sure what to add. Chillpilled (talk) 00:15, 9 December 2023 (UTC)

"OSA" possible addition[edit]
"OSA" is one I've been seeing from Tumblr terfs that seems to mean "opposite-sex attracted" and is used to refer to both bisexual and straight women (and probably also lesbians who date trans women) in their deranged rants about how any woman who partners with or possibly even speaks to a "male" is somehow a gender traitor. I don't edit this wiki much though, how do we add to a glossary like this? Do we need a citation, and should it be of a TERF post using it or of a non-TERF discussing it? I haven't seen any of the latter with this one, but a lot of the former. 2601:14D:4700:478C:3418:6F36:BBF4:5CE1 (talk) 02:59, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
Gender socialization[edit]
I patrolled IP's addition, something I'd want to add eventually is I've seen trans people say they actually seem to have interpreted socialization signals differently from others in their birth sex. This is, like anything, not a universal experience among trans people, but probably considerable. I would want to find at least blog posts or videos or something discussing this experience to add it first, although such posts may not even exist yet but who knows. Maybe Julia Serano, she did use that phrase "subconscious sex" and I haven't read enough of her but maybe part of the idea was that from an early age a trans person might "subconsciously" identify with the opposite sex, and so be receptive to some of the socialization signals for that sex. This is not to say such a person is socialized in the way a cis person of that sex would be but that they may be a little to moderately moreso than usual. Chillpilled (talk) 16:18, 13 July 2024 (UTC)
