Things to be included[edit]

The Watford Gap - boundary between North and South/Civilization and the North Pole etc.

The offshore bits as a group (as they mostly do not individually fall into RW's remit: Rockall (mostly uninhabited, but oil), Channel Islands (tax, female Dukes and a seaweed church), St Kilda (inhabitants seemingly 'persuaded' to leave), Shetland and Orkneys (intermittent moves to be reassigned back to Norway, Up Helly Aa, etc), Isle of Man (three legs, cats etc), the places listed on [1] and the Republic of Sealand. 171.33.222.26 (talk) 14:24, 13 September 2013 (UTC)

Good joke?[edit]

I always thought it would be moderately amusing to call the UK "B-Road Island" or "B-Rhode Island", but you'd have to be knowledgeable about both Britain and the US to really get it. (Allusions to its increasingly second-rate importance in the world [Cf. B-roads, i.e. secondary roads] and its relationship with the US, i.e. a transatlantic version of the US state Rhode Island.) I'm British by the way, so it's a self-deprecating "joke". — Unsigned, by: 91.125.73.242 / talk / contribs

as a rule, its not funny if you have to explain it. AMassiveGay (talk) 23:32, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
I occasionally stray into Rhode Island. I have visited England and Scotland. I don't see enough similarity or difference to find that even faintly funny. (There are a few limited-access motorways in the Ocean State, such as the M95 from Attleboro to Cranston and towards Warwick, but nobody calls it the M95.) This article is fucking trash[edit]

You limey bastards have the audacity to create and edit a mostly anti-American article while singing the praises of your dying little island nation? No wonder this site has very little relevance. — Unsigned, by: 66.87.115.91 / talk / contribs

Please take care with the well known RW arse/door issue.--Bob"I think you'll find it's more complicated than that." 21:09, 2 September 2014 (UTC)

Legal tender[edit]

The legal tender section is incorrect - only Bank of England notes are legal tender. Legal tender is only applicable in the settlement of debts; legal tender doesn't exist as a concept in Scotland in any case. https://www.scotbanks.org.uk/banknotes/legal-position.html gives a good summary. 84.92.90.18 (talk) 14:01, 11 December 2017 (UTC)

Pretty much fixed that. — Dysk (contribs) 15:00, 1 December 2018 (UTC)
