Patron saint[edit]

Voltaire should be the patron saint of RW. Rational Edfaith 13:15, 14 April 2008 (EDT)

I think his photo should certainly be one we randomly include on the main page. humanUser talk:Human 13:25, 14 April 2008 (EDT)

Clockmaker?[edit]

Could have {{fact}}ed it. But I've been all over the web & can find nothing to back it up. Beyond saying that he believed in gOD through "reason" rather than "faith". 11:32, 17 March 2010 (UTC) SusanGContribsTalk

I found "The world embarrasses me, and I cannot dream That this watch exists and has no watchmaker." as a quote, but no actual source for it. --ConcernedresidentAsk me about your mother 11:38, 17 March 2010 (UTC)
Fair enough! Watches were the leading edge in his time, I suppose. 11:46, 17 March 2010 (UTC) SusanGContribsTalk
Among others: "The atheists never replied to the difficulty that a clock proves a clock-maker." Letter to the Marquis de Villevielle, 26 August 1768 TomS TDotO (talk) 11:50, 17 March 2010 (UTC)

Deathbed quote[edit]

Having trouble finding if he actually said this, but if so it would be an awesome addition to his quotes. Apparently on his deathbed when asked by a priest to swear off the devil he replied with "Now now, young man. This is not the time to be making enemies" Has anyone been able to find any attribution for this? I have looked on and off for a while with few results, usually end up going in a huge internet circle. EWildman (talk) 01:43, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

Voltaire on the Gospels[edit]

He stated that they are so full of contradictions between each other the authors were making it up. 82.44.143.26 (talk) 17:51, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
