Running Trent over with a car was my clause! Alien abduction must have been Carptrash's... ħuman 21:42, 11 December 2008 (EST)
Can we keep the harmless ads and get rid of the Christian ones etc[edit]
At Liberapedfia I had a struggle to get rid of Scientology ads. I haven't seen that here. Most of the religious stuff here is just silly. We can laugh at it or use it to improve articles. I'm always a bit uneasy. If we lose a sound atheist to a seductive religious ad we won't know afterwards what's happened. Proxima Centauri 03:32, 12 December 2008 (EST)

- Given that it's clear that the ads are not editorial I have no problem with whatever they offer. In fact most of them make me smile as how the context software gets it so wrong. Within reason whatever pays the bills. Silver Sloth 06:58, 12 December 2008 (EST)
- The ads are fine as far as I'm concerned, and the server move sounds great. [really fucking obscure joke that no one will get]Just promise not to spend all the server money on ramen, Trent.[/joke] --AKjeldsenCum dissensie 07:56, 14 December 2008 (EST)
You know that you can disable the ads by using the "monobook_adfree" skin in Special:Preferences, right?I can't get ads at all for some reason. Evil time Hoover!- I'm a believer in ads. They can be...ironic. It does not truly involve selling your soul. In fact, the wackos over at scienceblogs frequently wrangle about the ads, and bad ones get taken down, but mostly they get used for blog-fodder. Also, I don't know about Hamilton, but here in Detroit, we get frequent power outages. Should we spring for a 6 hr back up battery or something?-- -PalMD --It hurts when I do "this" 20:25, 15 December 2008 (EST)

- I'm all about ads... we should be careful of selective advertising. I'm from the DC/Baltimore metro area. "TheBus" (the local gov't funded bus mass transit system) was sued for selective advertisement (not allowing Christian ads) and they had to settle out of court. If we allow advertisement from one we have to allow advertisement to all. There is currently a big hooplah about a group of atheists advertising heretical statements on the buses (the pendulum swinging now swinging the other way and all). I think that we are yet too small to deny any
moneyadvertisement that comes our way. I also think that we should "rent" user space for another year to allow us to grow into our shoes before we become self-reliant with our own personal dedicated server. Not a sermon, just a thought!--MAstEr oF pUPetStalk! 01:24, 17 December 2008 (EST)- I don't think we need to worry about selective advertising. I think the problem in DC or where ever was that it was owned my the Government, a problem which we do not share. Pinto's5150 Talk 01:46, 17 December 2008 (EST)
- Yeah, it's totally legal to "reject" ads, although there may be limitations due to whoever is serving up the ads' policies. ħuman 14:30, 17 December 2008 (EST)
