RationalWiki's 2018 Fundraiser

There is no RationalWiki without you. We are a small non-profit with no staff — we are hundreds of volunteers who document pseudoscience and crankery around the world every day. We will never allow ads because we must remain independent. We cannot rely on big donors with corresponding big agendas. We are not the largest website around, but we believe we play an important role in defending truth and objectivity.

If everyone seeing this today donates $5, we will meet our goal for 2018.

Fighting pseudoscience isn't free.
We are 100% user-supported! Help and donate $5, $20 or whatever you can today with PayPal Logo.png!

As-Sabiqun is an American Islamic fundamentalist organization founded by Imam Abdul Alim Musa. They claim to have an organized national network, but seem to be based largely out of two mosques, the first located in Washington DC and the second in Oakland, California. As-Sabiqun advocates for a global Islamic state and spreads nutty anti-Semitic conspiracy theories. The head of its Oakland branch, Amir Abdel Malik Ali, is a former member of the Nation of Islam.[1], as were many African-American Muslims of his age, who later affiliated with mainstream Islam, or sometimes with other Islamic groupings, such as the Shi'a.

However, Imam Abdul Alim Musa seems to be more connected with Iran, which is not Sunni fundamentalist, and which is not mainstream Islam, but which could be called Shi'a fundamentalist, a strange beast, representing a politically powerful minority position within the Shi'a minority, overall about 10% of world Islam.
