2025 RationalWiki 'Oregon Plan' Fundraiser

There is no RationalWiki without you. We are a small non-profit with no staff—we are hundreds of volunteers who document pseudoscience and crankery around the world every day. We will never allow ads because we must remain independent. We cannot rely on big donors with corresponding big agendas. We are not the largest website around, but we believe we play an important role in defending truth and objectivity.

Fighting pseudoscience isn't free.

Debate talk:Is RationalWiki Becoming More Bigoted?

From RationalWiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Am I reading too much into the title of this debate? Is the implication that there is a certain level inherent bigotry on the site and that is increasing? Or isn't that what it's saying?--Bobbing up 16:45, 18 February 2008 (EST)

I believe it is. Which is why I won't touch this debate with a ten-foot pole. At least, not until I change my mind. : ) --Star of David.png Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 16:47, 18 February 2008 (EST)

I would prefer if you would ignore Interpreted blatant page ninja'ing and wait a bit until I've written the introduction. ;-) --AKjeldsenGodspeed! 16:49, 18 February 2008 (EST)

Technically, there's no inference - it's merely an increase from nothing to something - but yes, I suspect that this question does have something to be read into. Also, it could be a reference to Avenue Q. Also, AK, it was an attempt to break the tension. --מְתֻרְגְּמָן שְׁלֹום

We have heard that a half million children have died. I mean, that is more children than died in Hiroshima. And, you know, is the price worth it? --מְתֻרְגְּמָן שְׁלֹום

Was this on CNN? Jollyfish.gifGenghis Marauding 17:29, 18 February 2008 (EST)

Nah, it's the most famous example of the many questions fallacy. --מְתֻרְגְּמָן שְׁלֹום

Debate[edit]

I'm holding off saying anything at the moment as I'm too angry at the premise. Jollyfish.gifGenghis Marauding

I like that AK thinks Jesus Christ, which I wrote mostly, is funny :) humanUser talk:Human 19:52, 19 February 2008 (EST)
I simply have to love an article that ties the Ministry to a downturn in the furniture market. Perfect synthesis of religious and economic history. GK, I hope that you'll A) realize that the premise is just an attempt to express a problem that I see in the dicussion climate here on the Wiki, and B) join the discussion once you've calmed down. In the meantime, please be careful with your blood pressure. --AKjeldsenGodspeed! 15:18, 20 February 2008 (EST)
If there is actually one thing that always looks good in my medicals it's my blood pressure! Jollyfish.gifGenghis Marauding 16:04, 20 February 2008 (EST)
