Freddie Mercury, born Farrokh Bulsara (1946–1991), was a legendary British singer and songwriter best known as the lead singer of the British band Queen. Mercury is also a famous LGBT icon and Zoroastrian.
Origins[edit]
Mercury was born in 1946 to a family of Parsis who lived in Tanzania (which has a significant Indian and Iranian diaspora), having their origins in Gujarat.
Global fame[edit]
Mercury achieved global fame since forming Queen alongside guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor.
