Essay talk:Andrew's long-term plan
Umm, probably should be essay. And could def. use grammar work as well. ThunderkatzHo! 10:55, 10 July 2008 (EDT)
To answer the question in the title, I don't think he trusted them in the first place. Or rather, he stopped trusting them when he became a Young Earth Creationist. Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 11:13, 10 July 2008 (EDT)
- The question is will he stop others from trusting them, I'm pretty sure Schlafly didn't trust them to start with, but we can use that as an idea to answer if others will do so. If people are going to stop trusting science, it's probably because they would anyway. They want to believe what they want to believe so will immediately distrust anyone else. So, Andy has an inclination to distrust them and uses the Lenski Affair to compound that, anyone willing to (or is compelled to) distrust them would read Andy's pages and think "yes, I knew it!!". So I doubt he's going to do any real damage, he's only going to affect the people who are converted to his cause already or are teetering on the edge just waiting for a real excuse to convert to his cause. - Eheh, oops. I misread the title. Silly me... Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 11:21, 10 July 2008 (EDT)
Proxima, you may want to change the title to "Will Andy stop people from trusting scientists" or similar. As it is now, the title reads awkward. Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 11:42, 10 July 2008 (EDT)
It's not an essay. It's referenced. Also if fear if it's treated as an essay other users who can improve the article will feel inhibited. Proxima Centauri 12:01, 10 July 2008 (EDT)
- I can see what you're doing Proxima Centauri, but the way it's titled it looks to me more like a debate piece. But you might want that. If you want it as an article you could consider: "Andrew Schlafly's ill-conceived attack on science" or "Consequences of Conservapedia's attack on Lenski" or something like that? Another thing is that the existing title won't age very well.--Bobbing up 12:15, 10 July 2008 (EDT)
- In that case, Proxima, you should move it to the Conservapediaspace. I apologize for moving it to the essayspace. At the time I recognized that it did not belong in the mainspace, and, given the explicit question in the title, I assumed it was an essay piece. - I vaped the trail of redirects leading to this. I also agree, it should be in the essay space because of the way it's written - it reads like a first person presentation. Also, the issue of referenced is irrelevant to that. Also, don't we already have a piece on almost exactly the same topic? ħuman 14:52, 10 July 2008 (EDT)
Another thing: If I were to edit this, I'd reduce it to "Perhaps he’s trying to undermine people’s confidence in science. He’s telling people that scientists conceal data" and turn that into one sentence. Perhaps I'd take the trouble to turn the stuff before and after that into a one sentence introduction and one sentence conclusion. Because that's all there really is here. ħuman 14:56, 10 July 2008 (EDT)
Delete[edit]
I have nominated this for deletion after moving the links to the Lenski affair. The blogs have something interesting to say this article doe not really do anything more than repeat it. Thoughts? - User 02:18, 28 October 2008 (EDT)
- Hello? - User 09:15, 25 November 2008 (EST)
- It's an interesting idea but is this not just a near word-for-word regurgitation of a blog entry I remember from a while ago? Either delete or move to essay space. I'd say move since it's fairly relevant and is probably worth keeping in some form. ArmondikoVbomination 09:20, 25 November 2008 (EST)
- Is this still here? Well, at least it's in the CP space. ħuman 21:13, 25 November 2008 (EST)
