Forum:Mobile-friendly version of RationalWiki?
Hi, I just learned about RW and I was wondering if there was a mobile-friendly version of it, like Wikipedia does with m.wikipedia.org.
Thanks!

- Unfortunately no, having said that my late neighbour edited for a long time on a mobile phone, about half of the Help files were created by her that way so it's not really a barrier. --Scream!! (talk) 20:03, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
- There is no "mobile version," but it's on my to-do list as something to start thinking about eventually. It could be done through a redirect like WP or some javascript on Common.js. Blue (is useful) 04:42, 18 April 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, please! Add mobile support! Thanks. Emijrp (talk) 21:08, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
- Without going in and editing the PHP files directly, what I could accomplish would be to add a javascript bit to Common.js that would reformat a page to be mobile friendly after it loads. Not terribly efficient or fast, but I don't see any direct obstacles. Blue (is useful) 21:13, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
- WP does it by having a completely different ruby-based frontend for mobiles, but they're working on a proper MW extension as well. One option would be to create a simplified skin (or just use chick) and a simple extension that activates that skin for mobile browsers. If you want to help, select MySkin from preferences - this is a completely unstyled skin which allows you to write your own custom css without having to worry about the skin css interfering and overriding stuff - then click on the custom CSS link next to the option and make something mobile-friendly. -- Nx / talk 06:39, 15 September 2011 (UTC)

Has anyone revisited this lately? The only way I’m able to view Rationalwiki on mobile is by using Safari’s reader view, and even then there are no graphics rendered and for some reason large sections of the article, typically everything after the lead-in paragraphs, are omitted. Is it a cost issue that prohibits offering dynamic layout rendering or has there simply not been enough demand? RW is one of the only websites I’ve come across in years that doesn’t adjust the format automatically depending on the size of the screen from which it is being used. If anyone has found a workaround, I’d greatly appreciate it, thanks! Srkbear (talk) 18:53, 4 March 2023 (UTC)
- Pretty sure no-one remembers this. We could accomplish this using MobileFrontend + the Minerva Neue skin, which is how Wikipedia does it. Ultimately it depends on the sysadmins wanting to do this. Rabbitseatcarrots (talk) 19:19, 4 March 2023 (UTC)
As of 2023, Android is the most used operating system in the world. So, a mobile version of RationalWiki should be made as soon as possible. I wonder how many people stumble upon RationalWiki on their phones, but then navigate away because it is not mobile friendly. Bento Espinosa (talk) 17:28, 20 July 2023 (UTC)
