I thought it was Tom Ridge (or someone else in DHS) who said that about duct tape? Researcher 23:25, 1 October 2008 (EDT)

I must insist that Gaff Tape is infinitely better than Duct tape. In fact, Gaff tape can fix anything. Pinto's5150 Talk 23:36, 1 October 2008 (EDT)
That is true.... But Duct tape is like the force. It has a light side, a dark side and it binds the universe together :-) yes, I know it's an old joke, but I like it SirChuckBThat is all 00:56, 2 October 2008 (EDT)

Lewis Black on using duct tape[edit]

Anybody ever seen his stand-up comedy about using duct tape to protect ourselves? It's quite possibly the funniest thing I have ever seen/heard!!! "The only way duct tape would protect us is if we have enough to wrap it completely around our heads so that we can no longer breathe, suffocate, and no longer have to worry about chemical weapons."The Goonie 1 (talk) 06:35, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

Yup. ħumanUser talk:Human 06:51, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

Don`t mock the allmighty tape! Horrible things will happen... Gmb (talk) 10:44, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

WD-40[edit]

I know it's funny, and a well-known product, but I hate to see us perpetuate the myth that it is a penetrant, or rust dissolver. It's for protecting things from rusting, the WD stands for "water displacer". Sadly, the major "real" penetrants are not well enough known to makey jokey worky. Rust-Solv and Breakaway are two major ones off the top of my head. And, oh yeah, WD-40 also sucks as a lubricant, it's far too thin to be useful. ħumanUser talk:Human 02:54, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

We use "Brute Blast" at work. It will dissolve a styrofoam cup in seconds! Aboriginal Noise Oh, what a lovely tea party! 03:02, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
The WD-40 joke has been floating around on teh internets for many years. We can probably take it out. Secret Squirrel 03:35, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
Go ahead, I'd love to see it gone. Even though this is only a fun: article. My professional/amateur nape bristles at the misrepresentation. Or perhaps we should just add a clarifying footnote to the joke? ħumanUser talk:Human 05:49, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
At AN, I can't remember the last time I had to use oxy-acetylene because a fucking styrofoam cup was seized! </joking> Pretty much anything will "undo" a styrofoam cup... ħumanUser talk:Human 05:51, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

PB Blaster is another "real" penetrant I forgot above. ħumanUser talk:Human 05:51, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

Also known[edit]

... as 'duck tape' - and the immediately previous page changed was 'duck and cover.' Probably means nothing. Anna Livia (talk) 22:11, 31 August 2017 (UTC)

The holy war between duct tape and duck tape devotees could probably be mentioned in a hilarious way. --Annanoon (talk) 14:53, 10 June 2019 (UTC)
