This guy didn't invent the terms "aerokinesis" and "hydrokinesis"[edit]
They're terms describing common elemental powers seen in fantasy, superhero, and other magic-containing franchises like the Marvel and DC universes, Sonic the Hedgehog, Pokémon, Avatar: The Last Airbender, etc. "Aerokinesis" refers to creating and/or controlling air; "Hydrokinesis" refers to creating and/or controlling water. (Similar terms include "Pyrokinesis", i.e. the creation and control of fire, "Terrakinesis", i.e. the creation and control of earth, "Biokinesis", i.e. creation and control of plants and other life… really, just slap a Latin or Greek word onto "kinesis" and you're probably referring to some specialized form of magic or psychic power tied to some thing or element.) --Luigifan18 (talk) 22:34, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- To be more clear, the term "kinesis" tends to be applied more often to psychic powers (following the lead of the term "psychokinesis") or powers of less defined origin (as in superhero stories where distinctions are often made between magic, psychic power, and superpowers that are neither of those two). If the supernatural power in question is magic in a D&D, Magic: the Gathering, or Harry Potter-style fantasy setting where powers are exerted through a defined system of spellcasting, the suffix "mancy" is often used instead (e.g. pyromancy, hydromancy, necromancy, etc.).
- The overall point is that Grubb didn't invent the terms "aerokinesis" and "hydrokinesis"; they were already used in discussions of supernatural-power-centric fiction such as the works of Marvel and DC Comics. However, I'm not removing the part that claims that Grubb made up the terms that he uses because I'm not reading his nonsense just to verify that he doesn't use any terms to describe his so-called powers that wouldn't be used at a ComicCon or an anime convention or discussion board to describe the abilities of characters like Sonic the Hedgehog (yes, he has aerokinetic abilities), Pikachu, the Human Torch, Aquaman, Aang, etc. --Luigifan18 (talk) 23:46, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- Regardless of whether he actually coined them or not, there's no credible source saying he did and we probably shouldn't credit him for being uncreative. Justarandomliberal (talk) 02:16, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
