Could do with some updating? Preferably by an American. There's one or two things not mentioned - wasn't there something about a visit to a BDSM strip club? (What brought him to mind) 16:02, 10 July 2010 (UTC) SusanG Toast

You mean like "he's a douche who got his position to try to wrangle in more black people"? I can't write that, it comes off as racist. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure it's true... Sarah Palin is a desperate attempt to appeal to women as Michale Steele is a desperate attempt to appeal to minorities... "Look! We're not a bunch of racist, rich white people, we're the party of inclusion!! See! We're even lead by a nigger minority!!" But I may be a bit biased, I hate racists, and I'm sure not all republicans are racist, but I'm also pretty sure all racists are republicans. Jerks. Quaru (talk) 16:12, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
This one? To be fair, that was the mistake of a lower-level staffer, who was promptly fired, and he wasn't directly responsible for it. His recent comments about the war in Afghanistan, on the other hand...that's weapons-grade idiocy. Röstigraben (talk) 16:44, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
I knew there was something he'd said recently. 16:57, 10 July 2010 (UTC) SusanG Toast
See, Republican behaviour makes a bit more sense, I think, if you think of it as classist rather than racist. "Poor" and "black" frequently coincide in the US, but there's no evidence the Republicans give a shit about anyone poor. I would certainly say GWB wasn't actively racist (perhaps passively), but definitely had no time for poor people.
Here's a scary notion: perhaps Michael Steele really was the best guy they could get for the job - David Gerard (talk) 16:50, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
Wouldn't we be saying a lot more if he was white? (sort of reverse racism) 16:57, 10 July 2010 (UTC) SusanG Toast
It's true! I'm afraid to criticize, for fear of coming off like a racist. I can't help it. I'm a product of the zeitgeist. And I refuse to read up on him too much, any time I've tried, I end up crying.. But that's common. I have the same problem with most hard-core conservative things.. And, DG, I have thought that he may be the best for the job, and although that's a possibility, I hope it's not the case. Quaru (talk) 11:50, 11 July 2010 (UTC)

The super-sad irony[edit]

Looking back at the careers of the previous and current RNC chairs, the most awful/hilarious thing about this is that Michael Steele -- as silly of a dude this guy is -- is still a damn sight better than the other people who have recently occupied the spot. --Dr. Swordopolis (talk) 16:08, 29 February 2012 (UTC)
