Talk:Nostradamus
Has anyone done an analysis of 'predictions and doom-mongering deduced' over time (as the interpretations will change over time) 82.44.143.26 (talk) 14:46, 25 June 2014 (UTC)
As an amusement - Nostradamus bingo: each person has a 'list of persons, events etc' and reads through the quatrains. The most appropriate matchings win. Alternatively - read out a quatrain and find 'an explanation.' 82.44.143.26 (talk) 18:03, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
Are we sure he was predicting things?[edit]
Like, he may have not actually been writing predictions of the future. He was an apothecary, after all, so he could have been just jotting down accounts of his hallucinations after experimenting with his, uh... wares, so to speak. TheMyon (talk) 16:38, 27 February 2017 (UTC)
- Another possibility - a means of getting round writers'/journalists' block. 82.44.143.26 (talk) 17:43, 27 February 2017 (UTC)
- My opinion is he was writing in code about contemporary politics in a time long before freedom of the press. --Vital Forces (talk) 22:19, 20 June 2019 (UTC)
Aren't there some quatrains that need explaining?[edit]
Isn't there one quatrain where he mentions Bin Laden by name, Or was that one of the hoaxed ones? Also, I think that second quatrain we already have listed actually describes American evangelical Christians' support of Trump pretty well without much hoop-jumping. I mean I don't see a way he could've seen into the future, and I realize that a prophesy is useless if you can't figure out what it means until after the fact, but We can't leave such important info unmentioned.Skadooshbag (talk) 17:11, 5 June 2019 (UTC)
- no. its all bullshit. people have linked the name Mabus to be bin laden because it shares some letters. its all so vague you can (and people do) link this stuff to literally anything. if you believe shit like this, you read in to and are amazed. if not, it remains bullshitAMassiveGay (talk) 17:42, 5 June 2019 (UTC)
- Anyone care to write 'The history of interpretations of Nostradamus predictions' (ie how people have shoehorned quatrains and historical events together). I predict anyone so doing will make some money. Anna Livia (talk) 18:40, 5 June 2019 (UTC)
