Talk:Professor of nothing

Would this term also apply to folks who obtained a degree, but from a diploma mill, like "Dr." Kent Hovind? I'm tempted to add it but I'm not sure that would be right. Peyre (talk) 15:44, 30 March 2017 (UTC)

Punch and Judy show operators[edit]

... are normally called Professor so would be appropriate 'presenters of information'.

Professors are not always right[edit]

Consider
P1: Prof. X supports Y.
P2: (unstated and unproven) X is authoritative about Y.
C: Y is true.

This is a specious argument with or without P2. Whoever professor X might be one cannot logically conclude the truth of Y because Professor X says it is true. That would be a simple appeal to authority. Certainly Y is more likely than not a true statement if professor X is an authentic expert on Y-iana. But formal fallacies are formal, and do not allow exceptions.UncleKrampus (talk) 22:34, 11 June 2022 (UTC)

Another quote[edit]

Would the quote in various forms about 'knowing more and more about less and less until one knows everything about nothing' be relevant here? Anna Livia (talk) 21:10, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
