2025 RationalWiki 'Oregon Plan' Fundraiser

There is no RationalWiki without you. We are a small non-profit with no staff—we are hundreds of volunteers who document pseudoscience and crankery around the world every day. We will never allow ads because we must remain independent. We cannot rely on big donors with corresponding big agendas. We are not the largest website around, but we believe we play an important role in defending truth and objectivity.

Fighting pseudoscience isn't free.
We are 100% user-supported! Help and donate $5, $10, $20 or whatever you can today with PayPal Logo.png!

Sher Zieve[edit]

That Bon isn't lying, Sher Zieve is fucking crazy. ClothCoat (talk) 00:32, 14 September 2013 (UTC)

Rev. Austin Miles[edit]

Please tell me this isn't the same Rev. Austin Miles who once wrote a great, snarky expose of Jim Bakker, PTL, and the Assemblies of God? Secret Squirrel (talk) 00:56, 14 September 2013 (UTC)

If I had to guess I would say it probably is. He is quite snarky. ClothCoat (talk) 01:01, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
Hmm. When he wrote that book in 1989 he seemed to be pretty firmly in the secular humanist, ex-Christian camp. Secret Squirrel (talk) 01:05, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
Oh, then it's probably someone else, don't worry. It's a common name. This guy has no history of being like that. ClothCoat (talk) 01:10, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
I looked it up and it appears they are the same person, unless they look very similar too. Compare the links.[1] [2]
Of course he could have gone back over to the dark side. 1989 was rather a long time ago... Secret Squirrel (talk) 01:17, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
Yep, same guy. I see he still has it in for the Assemblies of God, at least. Secret Squirrel (talk) 01:22, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
That sucks. Too bad he's a raging fundie at this point. I wonder if he would have gone back to the Assembly if he hadn't burned all of his bridges with them. I think he's one of those guys motivated more by greed than belief. He's still one of the saner members of RenewAmerica (though that's not saying much).ClothCoat (talk) 01:26, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
Anyone looks relatively sane next to Cliff Kincaid. :) Still... defending Peter J. Peters isn't exactly the mark of sane moderation. I have to wonder how much of his feud with the AOG was just paranoia? Secret Squirrel (talk) 01:57, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
Hard to say with these guys. I doubt he was ever genuine, but who knows. ClothCoat (talk) 01:59, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
