Here's my take.
All of you are wrong.

You're wrong.

I would ask what this is all about, but quite frankly I'm a bit afraid.--Colonel Sanders (talk) 00:11, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

My bot is a bit temperamental. Blue (pester) 00:16, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
Hmmm. I see. Sadly, I know nothing about programming bots otherwise I would give you some meaningful help.--Colonel Sanders (talk) 00:23, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
It's a fairly complex autosigning bot.
And I'm testing it.
Indeed I am. Blue (pester) 00:58, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

Autosigning bot, eh? What's next, a peanut butter and jelly making bot? I digress. Err.... good luck with that...--Colonel Sanders (talk) 01:07, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

Many
thanks.

Still not working, eh?--Colonel Sanders (talk) 01:26, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

Hey[edit]

I take it you work now? Tytalk 23:22, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

We're in alpha testing. — Unsigned, by: Blue / talk / contribs 23:31, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
So I should put the saloon bar conversion project on hold then. Tytalk 23:34, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
Converting to liquidthreads, do you mean? Blue (pester) 23:36, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
It has been over 6 months since the topic was put on hold. Tytalk 23:38, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
There may come a day when the MediaWikisphere will convert to LQT. But it is not this day. Blue (pester) 23:46, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
I'll just resume plotting aimlessly then. Tytalk 23:49, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

Wow![edit]

How did I miss this? Great work! Does it work in the Saloon Bar?--User:Brxbrx/sig 01:13, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

Well, I've been testing it, just letting it run for several hours and see what goes wrong. It works on all talk pages. Blue (pester) 04:07, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
I ask because the Saloon Bar isn't a talk page.--User:Brxbrx/sig 06:25, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
Ah. It works on all talk pages (including forum/debate etc. pages) and all project pages that have a newsectionlink, like the bar. Blue (pester) 17:39, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
I put a new section link on my user page. Will my user page be riddled with unsigned templates? Or is it just project pages?--User:Brxbrx/sig 20:07, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
Nvrmind, but I did put that on a previous iteration of my user page. So, should I do it again, will I be safe?--User:Brxbrx/sig 20:18, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
It only checks for newsectionlink on project pages, and doesn't look at non-talk namespaces that aren't stuff like debate and forum. Blue (pester) 20:32, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

malfunction[edit]

Your bot signed a post that was already signed [1]--"Shut up, Brx." 03:32, 6 June 2012 (UTC) — Unsigned, by: Brxbrx / talk / contribs 03:32, 06 June 2012 (UTC)

Your signature does not follow site standards. I'm just going to let it inconvenience you. Blue (is useful) 03:46, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
What do you mean? What's wrong with my signature?--"Shut up, Brx." 05:05, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
Presumably it's that it contains no 'user' - neither a link nor a transcluded userspace page. Either that or she's specifically set the thing up to annoy you. Peter Blessed are the cheesemakers 05:08, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
I'll look into it.--"Shut up, Brx." 05:09, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
The wikitext, not the contents of the template itself. Peter Blessed are the cheesemakers 05:12, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
I'm not sure what you're saying. Why don't you just tell me what I should do? I'd appreciate it--"Shut up, Brx." 05:13, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
Put your sig template in your userspace. Blue (pester) 05:18, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
(EC) I mean that the bot is likely just reading the markup for the page, which modifying the template does not change in any way. You'd best just get another sig, but for amusement's sake please don't. Peter Blessed are the cheesemakers 05:19, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
Don't worry, Peter, that sig is the only barrier to Mikalos and ArchieGoodwin spamming that incredibly frustrating template in reply to everything I say. It shall stay my signature until that template is deleted. And Blue, I've done it. It's in my userspace.--User:Brxbrx/sig 05:22, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
Actually, with my script thing they can now say, I dunno, "fuck off brx" instead without even needing a template to do it with. Peter Blessed are the cheesemakers 05:27, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
Wow, all these ways to stick a hand in Rob's face, and now I'm on the list too! You should reconsider the existence of that page. It's not conducive to civil, productive discussion--User:Brxbrx/sig 05:30, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
It's a demonstration. For me it's only really useful for adding the unsig template, and Blue's bot makes that part obsalete. Peter Blessed are the cheesemakers 05:35, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
Ah, my bad.--User:Brxbrx/sig 05:36, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
Robs face? Most were made in response to other users. il'Dictator Mikal 18:28, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
Oh no please don't mention him. I think he's like Beetlejuice: if you start talking about him, he'll magically show up. Cow...Hammertime! 19:01, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

You know what'd be great?[edit]

If this thing also did talk page welcomes. Probably a whole lot easier than signatures, too (also, how about having your signature bot look for timestamps instead of user space templates?--User:Brxbrx/sig 07:08, 14 June 2012 (UTC)

Because sometimes people accidentally put five tildes which just parses as a timestamp without a signature. Blue (pester) 04:33, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

The Machine is strong. We must purge the weak, hated flesh and replace it with the blessed purity of metal. Only through permanence can we truly triumph, only through the Machine can we find victory. Punish the flesh. Iron in mind and body. Hail the Machine! Tybot (talk) 21:21, 15 January 2013 (UTC)
Perhaps you could set it to ignore bots and minor edits? Peter Subsisting on honey 06:34, 19 January 2013 (UTC)
The issue has been noted. It currently signs when people move other people's posts between pages, such as when stuff is transferred from the bar to the Dirk forum or when Pibot archives stuff. The solution is to not sign material that contains any signatures and/or any timestamps, the only downside of which is that the bot will not recognize those few times when a signature is faked. Also, the template recognition regex is acting up. Both problems will be fixed in the coming days. Blue (pester) 07:31, 19 January 2013 (UTC)
