"Rationality" is a bit like "Ethics"[edit]
If you want to try to understand this website, imagine it was called "EthicalWiki" - i.e. it was filled with people with a claimed devotion to ethics. Now, any website composed of people with a claimed devotion to ethics, will be convinced that whatever particular ethical views they have chosen are right, and that others who adopt a different view are being unethical. Substitute "rational" for "ethical", and you have this site. But, just as it would be rather a waste of time to argue against the ethics of such an EthicalWiki - "you claim to be ethical, yet you say X is (un)ethical, when clearly it is not!" - it is equally a waste of time to argue about the rationality of this site. Since no one can agree on what is ethical, trying to found a site on a claimed devotion to ethics-in-general, as opposed to a particular ethical viewpoint, is incoherent. In the same way, as the term "rational" is as fraught with disagreement as "ethical" is, this "RationalWiki" can fare no better. (((Zack Martin)))™ 12:03, 15 June 2015 (UTC)
