- Susan, dear, you should enable an email address. You really should. I know it would be more work, but not much more... humanbe in 22:42, 27 September 2007 (EDT)
Can't Susantalk to me 22:46, 27 September 2007 (EDT)
- Sorry to hear that, but thems the breaks, eh? Just wanted to send you a private note, and couldn't. Wait, mebbe I can on the forums? Anyway, GoeaueoautseSpeeeeeed. !@#$%^&*()! humanbe in 22:51, 27 September 2007 (EDT)
- Nice work on the page title thing - should there be a section that says "I screwed up my article title, what do I do?" in substance, if not in form...? You apparently don't have email. Maybe when the first floor is habitable, you will be granted such privileges? Your situation makes me think of some of the dumb talk at "great flood"... humanbe in 23:05, 27 September 2007 (EDT)
If it's about that message via Bob - we've had a "discussion" here and she's apologised and promised to let me run my cyber life as I wish. (she'll never make a spy - all the subterfuge on RW & never thought to delete the pocket word file) I'm also on my desktop rewriting my (700pp - down to <500pp) book (@ editor's/publisher's ... aah ... Recommendtion - "do it or we don't release the rest of the advance!" & It's therapeutic to talk' to you guys. Susantalk to me 23:10, 27 September 2007 (EDT)
When I see the tv coverage of the African floods I feel amazingly guilty about my own situation. I've got an idea about the "help" files. Susantalk to me 23:10, 27 September 2007 (EDT)
- Your situation still sucks. Washed out, not at home again yet... yes, it's worse elsewhere, always has been, and that sucks too and gives us humility? Yes, the message via Bob. I caught the sideshwipes, I hope Jayne is still standing, and not beat into a pulp. Shit, why didn't she know enough to make her own account, at least? Anyway, back to the help files... your idea(s)? humanbe in 23:15, 27 September 2007 (EDT)

Bilingualishiffness[edit]
By the way, piss me off, it took me thirty frikkin' years to learn the US "z" from the UK "s". Now I'm back to bilingualism. And that, sadly, does not mean "two tongues" in the way I wish it did... humanbe in 23:12, 27 September 2007 (EDT)
As you might guess - it's color that really hits the aggranoying point with me. The thing about ise/ize is there's no consistency - anywhere. Susantalk to me 11:52, 28 September 2007 (EDT)

index 1/index 2[edit]
Um, Susan, what are you trying to do? And why? You've made a bunch of inexplicable changes the help files and couple of others, but no edit comments or talk page stuff explaining or asking for help, until one I just saw, where I have no idea why) you commented out all the links on the main help page. So I figured I'd ask what you are trying to do (and why you didn't make it work in a sandbox first?). Thassall... humanbe in 21:23, 28 September 2007 (EDT)
- PS, shouldn't this: "If anyone out there can sort it by index1/index2 and/or put it in a table please show me how." have been the first thing to ask? Right now you've crippled a link that is on every page of the site... humanbe in 21:26, 28 September 2007 (EDT)
Mm - you're probably right. - trying to automate the help page - did make it work several times (using preview & delete) but the nature of the thing means that it won't work anywhere but its actual location. Alterations to sub files are minimal - addition of two headers (index1 & index2) - sorta like categories. I'm afraid I might have gone all Newton/Conservative (possessive) on it - wasn't thinking - I get a bit monomaniac sometimes. Sorry - I'll undo it. Susantalk to me 21:35, 28 September 2007 (EDT)
- Haha, yeah, I sorta see what you were trying to do. But if you couldn't make it work in a sandbox, properly, first... oh well, it's all undoable anyway. So what you wanted, I think, would be cats - unique ones for these pages, and then to list the contents of those cats at the help index? Why not undo what you did (so the help index page, um, works again), and go restudy how trent did the "best of"/contents thing? And make it work in a sandbox so we can get it perfect before it goes live? Just turning those index things into cats ought to do it, right? humanbe in 21:43, 28 September 2007 (EDT)
Gimme chance to reply; TWOedit conflicts in 2 minutes It wasn't crippled - it was still fully functional. Cleaning up now. Susantalk to me 21:50, 28 September 2007 (EDT)
- Sorry 'bout that; just adding more thoughts. Anyway. An interesting trick would then be to redirect each of the "help" cats to the help page itself... humanbe in 22:21, 28 September 2007 (EDT)
- Anyway - you can "sandbox" anything - just make enough files to play with. I guess my point is, if you're gonna "reshape" a 'meta' article, like "help", you tell "everyone" and display an example "off line". I know, you wanted to just blow our minds, but even the suggestion, blows our minds. You get credit even if "everyone else" chimes in and makes it work. humanbe in 01:28, 29 September 2007 (EDT)
see [[User:SusanG/play]] - pretty? Look @ the two pages I've indexed - whited out he linkage stuff @ the bottom. easy when you know how (!). That dpl stuff is impenetrable! Susantalk to me 12:38, 29 September 2007 (EDT)
- Yes, it's getting better. I'll keep my comments at your play/talk page now. humanbe in 17:51, 29 September 2007 (EDT)

You don't! . . . . . . . . . . . . . You click upload file
sign your words please (~~~~) Susantalk to me 01:06, 30 September 2007 (EDT)
- Since we're on the topic of pictures... I have a question, if you may, Miss Susan.
- If my image upload is too large, is it okay to cut/paste/load just a piece or section of it to reduce the size? (Of course, its from Wiki Commons) NorsemanWassail! 22:24, 14 October 2007 (EDT)
The whole or part of the pic is ok (but just decreasing the resolution - if it's file size you mean - will do.) Susantalk to me 22:48, 14 October 2007 (EDT)
disambiguation template[edit]
I wanna make a simple template to use for this purpose, but I need help with a good, short, easy to type, easy to remember name for it. I think "da" is a bit too concise, what think ye? human 19:11, 16 October 2007 (EDT)
- "Choice"/ "Choose"? Susantalk to me 19:17, 16 October 2007 (EDT)
- Hmmmm. Maybe. Let's keep thinkin', we have all night, I can make (simple) templates drunk... human 19:21, 16 October 2007 (EDT)
CHOOSE: CHOOSE1: CHOICE: OPTION: PICK: PICK1: SELECT: SELECT1. (Thesaurussing!) words rather than abbreviations (see "fact" -> "citation needed") Susantalk to me 19:31, 16 October 2007 (EDT)
- Hahaha. "pick" is getting closer... the trouble with choose, option, & select is they tend to also be the name of html/wiki syntax things... hmmm. How about "which"? No, that's harder to type than "pick"... and I don't want to use the logical choice, "disamb"... for no good reason. human 19:34, 16 October 2007 (EDT)
- "fork"? human 19:34, 16 October 2007 (EDT)
<-- ALT: ALTERNATE: WHICH? Susantalk to me 19:36, 16 October 2007 (EDT)
DILEMMA? DISAMBIGUATION? CONFUSE? SORT? SELECT(oh I've done that one - I must like it) Susantalk to me 19:40, 16 October 2007 (EDT)
- I actually kinda like fork. Or, "spork - this page spoonfeeds you a fork in the road". Of course, no one would ever remember it. what I like about fork is that the category can be called "fork pages" and no one will ever have to type "disamb..." again! Alt or alternate suffer as above (syntax), IMHO. "Which" is good. (Text: "Which page did you mean?") human 19:43, 16 October 2007 (EDT)
Pick; which or fork. Should be rememberable & easy to wright & apposite (?). (why don't you fork off'?Susantalk to me 19:50, 16 October 2007 (EDT)
- "pickwhichfork"! hehe. I think those are the 3 candidates, though. Let's let our brainz percolate/steep (coffee or tea?) a little more on it, though. I doubt if I'll do the work until after I watch the Red Sox lose tonight, so there's no hurry. human 19:59, 16 October 2007 (EDT)
- OK, they done losin'. Shall we run with fork? Is that ok? (I know, I made it up, I'm in love with it, but, eh, whatever...)? human 00:06, 17 October 2007 (EDT)
My least liked of the 3 but ok if you want. Susantalk to me 00:12, 17 October 2007 (EDT)
- OK, well, "choose" is already syntax for the random thing we love here. So that leaves "pick" vs. "fork". I'm still open to persuasion, although "forkin'" is what these pages do. pick/fork equally easy to type. Lookin' for a reason to run with one of them without arguing for my favorite. (PS, nobody else seems to care, yet, so it's just me, and me askin' you. How intimate, hehe) human 00:19, 17 October 2007 (EDT)
Well, I and I bin tinkin about it, an we tink dat fork - like de forkin branches of a tree might be best any hoo. Sorri to mess ya abaht. Susantalk to me 00:28, 17 October 2007 (EDT)
- I love your Jamaican take on it... Like, da fork might be the "way that workx". Not that we will have many of them anyway. I'll make the template "tomorrow" - yeah I said I could make it drunk, but that's "work"!!! Like, typing!!!! I'll check back in for new ideas before I do this, tomorrow... human 06:47, 17 October 2007 (EDT)

Oh, and that IP thing, yeah, very few of us have fixed IP's, so it's bit funny when we welcome IP's, since they are probably dynamic, like your is (if not proxies) human 00:04, 17 October 2007 (EDT)

Teratornis[edit]
Funny, YOU are one of the reasons I read here but don’t edit (no great loss to RW). I would rather avoid your histrionics and attacks on people who’ve irked you (e.g. Bohdan). I guess you have to learn to get along with other people or, you’re right, maybe you should no longer be involved. I do think you’ve done a lot of valuable work here though. — Unsigned, by: 204.187.154.49 / talk / contribs

Reds - objective[edit]
Hi Susan. I know that we have differing opinions about this but I thought I'd comment here. anyway, I'm not going to comment further on the "standards" page until we see more opinions from others on the issue. But there is one point I wanted to clarify. You say there are "62" reds. Is this a typo and did you mean to say "627" (which there are) or is your PDA playing games with you?--Bobbing for apples 04:45, 25 October 2007 (EDT)

Thought about it - negatory - all our science category would be simple wouldn't it? Susanspeak your mind 05:20, 25 October 2007 (EDT)
- No, obviously not - the evolution stuff being an obvious example. But in your initial proposal you wrote:I think that we would be doing browsers (people not programs) a favour by just giving a layman's description of such technically deep subjects. Many scientific subjects could be "laymanised" without undue difficulty (and it'd give editors low on social science knowledge something to do).
- And I was thinking about these proposed "laymanised" articles to which you refer.--Bobbing for apples 05:27, 25 October 2007 (EDT)
- Sorry, I misread your note about to say: all our science category wouldn't be simple wouldn't it?--Bobbing for apples 05:30, 25 October 2007 (EDT)
? Don't know how to respond. I don't want to sideline stuff but I do think we should have a short (non-encyclopæic) desc of anything that's mentioned in other articles. Isotope for example comes in to creationism so therefore neutron shuld as well & if you have neutron you've gotta have proton (and possibly quark).
Sorry rambling. What was the question again? Susanspeak your mind 05:45, 25 October 2007 (EDT)
- Well, that takes us back to where we started I think. :-) It starts us writing an encyclopedia of science - albeit a simplified one. let's see if anybody else chimes in on the "standards" page.--Bobbing for apples 06:04, 25 October 2007 (EDT)
