Questions[edit]
Removing content you don't like in a hissy fit is how CP operates. I dare say it's up to you if you want to continue to operate that way, but it seems rather pointless to me. But to clarify, I did not insult you, I commented on the uniformly poor nature of the article you produced. If you feel that as an insult then I believe I have already apologised (i'd confirm that but some historical revisionist has erased my comments). But that aside, what part of the article that you are apparently so proud of, is, in your opinion, above criticism?
- the fact that the subject did not match the page title,
- the atrocious spelling,
- the poor grammar,
- the lack of structure,
- the lack of category(s),
- the lack of standard wiki formating
- the lack of coherence
- all of the above?
Further questions; If you don't like being insulted, why insult others? If you are so thin skinned about your articles, why not polish them before posting?--Remarcsd 01:04, 8 October 2007 (EDT)
- Links help the curious. By the way, have you not noticed that Alien is, well, insane? We harbor the strange here. humanbe in 02:13, 8 October 2007 (EDT)
- Sorry about not linking, I never even thought of it, and Alien would know what I was talking about, and I see you found it anyway. As for the other, no I didn't twig, I had never taken the opportunity to examine his record. And finally yes we do, don't we, after all, I am here.--Remarcsd 04:34, 8 October 2007 (EDT)
- No problem, since it was "betweent he two of you", and, yeah, Iguess I foudn it, though maybe not the original. And yeah, we sure do. The fact that I can pretend to be sane here is testament to that! humanbe in 04:38, 8 October 2007 (EDT)
- I apologise I was just very intersted in the subject and got a little carried away in my haste to post this. I just tink it is very unfair for the swiss to discrimate in this way against those of other ethinic backgrounds. I admit that it was a poorly crafted article and you were right to comment. I just was hoping that someone else would comment on the article and the way these immigrants are being treated. I apologise again. The AlienDon't tase me, Bro!!! 15:51, 8 October 2007 (EDT)
- No problem. Perhaps you should take another stab at it, but try to get it written in more complete form in a text file on your computer first? That way if it takes you a while to think it through and present it, we won't stomp all over the intermediate versions? humanbe in 17:18, 8 October 2007 (EDT)

Template[edit]
Easiest way to make a template is to take an existing one Template:Notscience and go to the edit box to play about with it using preview. Then save it under a new name. (or perhaps save it first and then play with it)--Bob's your uncle 16:48, 16 October 2007 (EDT)

- The easiest way, as with any computer thing, is to find one you like, as in it's pretty close to what you want, and copy its content into a new template: article, then modify it as needed. What are you trying to build? human 17:02, 16 October 2007 (EDT)

- Basically modify this code as you like then copy paste on to a template page (e.g Template:user aliens template). - Icewedge 01:03, 17 October 2007 (EDT)

Creating Templates[edit]
You just search for the name you want, like "template:alienstemplate," and then type away! Insert using {{alienstemplate}}. To put in new wording, if you want it to say, "This user is X," you code it like "This user is {{1}}." Then, to insert the template with your words in the place of {{1}}, type {{alienstemplate|yourtexttoreplace1}}-αmεσ (tailor) 02:02, 22 October 2007 (EDT)

war math...[edit]
On your user page you run through the cost per person pf the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan thusly:
"$456 billion dollars...
456,000,000 dollars ÷ 59,389,561 people = $7.6 per person
If instead of having an entire war, we had given each person 7.6 dollars"
I hate to nitpick, but 456 billion is 456,000,000,000. So the 7.6 dollars/person is actually $7,600. Yup. Of course, this makes your case much more strongly. And isn't it more like 700 billion now (and less of them left alive to share it among!) Heck, we could have offered a $10,000 bounty to each and every Iraqi to overthrow and hang Hussein and come out ahead!
- Which, to continue the nitpicking, would of course have utterly obliterated the Iraqi economy, and quite possibly the American one as well. --AKjeldsenGodspeed! 13:43, 27 October 2007 (EDT)
- Well, it's effects certainly would have been hard to predict. But on the US side, we spent the moeny anyway. Oh yeah, that's right, the dollar is beginning to look like post-war Lira... But would a massive "pump-priming" like the Iraqis would theoretically have received not generate economic activity as they spent the money on goods and services? Anyway, the result couldn't have been worse than wrecking their country and killing their people. human 14:55, 27 October 2007 (EDT)
- Only if there are in fact goods and services to spend that money on. Much of it would probably be sent abroad, but even then, it would completely overheat the Iraqi economy and cause heavy inflation, not to mention the corruption. As for the American side, simply, making out 60 million checks and sending them to the Iraqis wouldn't be pretty either. Right now, I assume most of that money is being spent inside America itself: Military suppliers, soldiers' wages, given to Halliburton to light cigars with, etc. If it was sent to Iraq, it would be missing in the American economy, causing a whole different set of problems.
- BTW, you should be happy about the low dollar rate. I've never bought so much stuff from you guys as I'm doing at the moment. :D On the other hand, I get a fair amount of my income in dollars, so it sort of sucks, too. :( --AKjeldsenGodspeed! 15:26, 27 October 2007 (EDT)

Well, it is helping the US economy in a way, but in another is isn't. Let's imagine that the government wants to spend money to boost the economy. It could build roads, hospitals and educate people. Or it could pay people to dig big holes in the ground and then pay other people to fill them in again. Either way would be "good" for the economy in that money would be pumped into it. However one way would obviously seem to be a lot more attractive than the other. Spending money on bombs to drop on people is rather like the second hole-digging way. It puts money into the economy but you don't get a lot back.---Bobbing for apples 15:35, 27 October 2007 (EDT)
