Debate talk:Who is the biggest idiot at CP?

We need to hash out[edit]

While I am still going with Karajou as CP's megaidiot, the point that we don't know what, exactly, we're discussing has been brought up elsewhere.
Stupid, (in my mind) is not the same as idiocy but both flow from the same wellspring of "duh". Stupidity leads to acts of idiocy. Rather: Stupidity is the congenital inability to discern and accept the thought, "this might not be such a good idea."
Idiocy, on the other hand, does indeed weigh the above caveat and blithely goes ahead with the "idea" anyway. This a-here website is a well known place to marvel at Homo sapiens individual stupidity.
I'm going to guess that most of us, during the course of our lives have been (or will be) asked, "What were you thinking? This is a Good Thing. The question itself is (of course) rhetorical: what is really being said is an assertion by question, "You weren't thinking, were you?
Most of us will recall having some internal monologue, right before "it" happened. While our bodies are hapless slaves to our minds, they do oft times, have significant input in the decision making process, subtle though it is. When attempting to climb a telephone pole, one's foot might "slip": this is the body's way of defending itself from the person's mind, (which is focused on a better view or a good hiding place or free cable, etc.). This "slip" is the body's "final warning" that "this might not be such a good idea."
Idiocy is a deliberate, determined, (often) reasoned "defense" for doing something stupid. "Stupid is as idiocy does." -- CЯacke® 10:37, 21 June 2008 (EDT)

Summary[edit]

So, when do we make a papier mache starnbar for Ed? I'd suggest the next "cp get together", he can even get a little certificate I will gladly design, congratulating him on being voted the "biggest idiot" at cp by his devoted fans at rw. ħumanUser talk:Human 01:44, 17 June 2008 (EDT)

Hey hey hey hey! Not so fast there, Foxnews. Let's not go crowning a victor while the polls are still open. Plenty of voices have yet to be heard, and we have at least three candidates in the running here. Ed is frontrunner, but we all know what happens to frontrunners this year, don't we. In any case, whoever the winner turns out to be, someone needs to sock up and put a message of congratulations his talk page. A screenshot would be good too. Give it until Thursday, in any case. DickTurpis 01:54, 17 June 2008 (EDT)
I wasn't trying to close the polls ;) I had actually considered sticking a "do not archive" note on this section so it lasts longer than the next time WIGO talk hits 105k. But it probably wouldn't be noticed. ħumanUser talk:Human 02:00, 17 June 2008 (EDT)
I move that we immediately designate Ed as "Idiot of the Year", and feature his user-page link on the RW homepage for the next 12 months. (oh, wait - that would be if Ken had won). --SpinyNorman 10:55, 17 June 2008 (EDT)

Should we designate a special award name for this honor? IF CP has the Ronny, this one could be the dubya(TF), or something along that line... --SpinyNorman 10:58, 17 June 2008 (EDT)

Count every vote! Count every vote! DogP 11:11, 17 June 2008 (EDT)

If a sockpuppet will be designated to bestow the award (and capture the screenshot), we'll need an ASCII version ofthe award image for them to use. Also, please save the screenshot as .png, not .jpg? ħumanUser talk:Human 14:40, 17 June 2008 (EDT)
Sounds good. Who's our resident ASCII artist? DickTurpis 09:43, 18 June 2008 (EDT)
And when should the polls close? How's 11:59 PM Thursday (EDT)? DickTurpis 09:44, 18 June 2008 (EDT)
You mean Thursday June 19? Or Thursday June 26? I vote for the latter, let's let some time elapse here, the papier mache has to dry on my starnbar! ħumanUser talk:Human 01:34, 19 June 2008 (EDT)
26th is fine. It seemed that after the first day most of the voting was over, so I figured by tonight we'd have all the votes we're going to get, but it seems they're still slowly coming in (we even have a new candidate, Learn Together, though it's pretty clear he's the Tom Tancredo of the group (no chance in hell of winning)). There are still some major players who haven't voiced their opinions. Maybe we can encourage them to vote without making endorsements? It seems if there's one thing everyone here should have an opinion on, it's this. I'd like to get Kettleticket's two cents, though I'm pretty sure he'll be voting Ed. DickTurpis 17:33, 19 June 2008 (EDT)

Taking a quick look at the dated active users page, it appears we have not heard how the following active RWers weigh in:

  • Radioactive Afikomen
  • AmesG
  • Genghis Khant
  • AKjeldsen
  • Kels
  • PalMD

To name just a few who I know are presently active. I, for one, am curious to hear the wisdom of these respected sages. DickTurpis 17:44, 19 June 2008 (EDT)

OK, I move we close the voting at 11:59 PM (EDT) on Monday, June 23 (conveniently when I'll be getting back from my camping trip), which should give ample time for the last few votes to trickle in. No point in dragging this out longer than necessary. Anyone opposed? Don't care. I started this and I can end it. DickTurpis 00:22, 21 June 2008 (EDT)
Hey Dick, why not pull an RA and spam the "missing" voters (and everyone on RW), so we can get their opinions and close the voting. PS, I still haven't built the lovely papier mache starnbar to be awarded to the winner loser of this vote. So there's no rush... enjoy your trip!!! ħumanUser talk:Human 00:27, 21 June 2008 (EDT)
Um, you're not really building a barnstar award, are you? I've been assuming that was a metaphor. We're we talking ASCII art at one point? In any case, I'm not too big on spamming people who may not feel like participating in a vote. Nor am I sure exactly who should be spammed; I may need to get some leads (some good leads; like the Glenngarry leads). You have such leads, by any chance? DickTurpis 00:45, 21 June 2008 (EDT)
First we do drawings in 3D. Then build a small scale mock up. Then build the full size award. Photograph it from a flattering angle. Convert to ASCII art so it can be left on the winner's talk page by a lowly editor. Best "lead" I can suggest to is to make a new section on WIGO talk and invite people over to vote/discuss. ħumanUser talk:Human 14:57, 21 June 2008 (EDT)
Wouldn't making the small-scale be harder than making the full scale...? Fitting. 199.126.152.60 19:28, 21 June 2008 (EDT)
Well, since the full scale version will be on the order of 20-30 feet (a bunch of metres) high, wide, and deep, the small scale one will be a mock-up to determine if the design is worth the effort to build. The scale model will probably be about 1:10 - 1:20 or so, much easier to handle with normal tools, and also convenient to transport to conventions, get-togethers, and other Conservapedia Events for display indoors. ħumanUser talk:Human 20:24, 21 June 2008 (EDT)
20-30 feet = two metres? Barikada 22:01, 21 June 2008 (EDT)
Actually, about 40 or so electric meters. In the final plan, at least. ħumanUser talk:Human 22:40, 21 June 2008 (EDT)

Executive summary summary[edit]

Copied from talk WIGO:

Conservative is not an idiot he is just stupid. Ed's the idiot, Andy's a fool, Karajerk is a dumb grunt, TerryH is a pompous prick, Crockoshite is deranged, PJR is deluded, Learn Together is a bully, Joaquin is demented, Bugler is a fascist bastard and I can't quite fathom what Deborah is. (Did I miss anyone?) Jollyfish.gifGenghisIs the Pope a Catholic? 06:59, 21 June 2008 (EDT)

(Emphasis added for emphasis)ħumanUser talk:Human 14:57, 21 June 2008 (EDT)

In my world stupid=idiot. Therefore the Ken FTW Campaign Headquarters (Turpis & DogP) declares Genghis' vote to be cast for Ken, despite his attempt to pervert his own vote. We demand a recount! DogP 20:33, 21 June 2008 (EDT)

Missing voter abstentions[edit]

I've just had a look at this. I spend so little time at CP that I can't really vote for anybody. (I am however prepared to sell my vote if anybody is interested.)--Bobbing up 06:49, 21 June 2008 (EDT)

If I buy your vote and vote for a smart Conservapedian, can I mock you for casting a terrible vote? NightFlareStill doesn't have a (nonstub) RWW article. 07:29, 21 June 2008 (EDT)
In principle, yes - but it depends on how much you are prepared to pay for the vote. :-) Please also remember that if you were to pay a high price then there might be some confusion about who was, in fact, a worthy recipient of said mockery.) --Bobbing up 08:32, 21 June 2008 (EDT)
Ha! NightFlare said "smart Conservapedian" !!!! SusanG  ContribsTalk 15:18, 21 June 2008 (EDT)

List of Sysops[edit]

How do I get a list of the Sysops over at CretinPedia? This doesn't seem to work any more. Auld Nick 10:18, 21 June 2008 (EDT)

Here. just doin' my job, ma'am. PFoster 10:42, 21 June 2008 (EDT)

Reinventing the wheel[edit]

I just now realized this: I have never witnessed such a gathering of idiots. I think everybody agrees that Andy, Conservative, Ed Poor, Karajou are complete fucking morons idiots (Joaquin and others deserve a special mention as well): that's FOUR. I know NO OTHER PLACE OR COMMUNITY with so many idiots at their level. I consider myself an idiot now, having used so much time to understand this. Hoping not to have offended anybody, (Editor at) CP:no intelligence allowed 19:05, 25 June 2008 (EDT)

I don't know, there are some pretty bad places out there on the internet:

And those are the more "general" places on my daily watch list. There are a lot more specific oriented places dealing with anti-government, conspiracy, creationism, etc. There is also a surprising number of sites that play the same game we do with WIGO with these sites. I think mockery is about the only rational response. tmtoulouse nettle 19:16, 25 June 2008 (EDT)

Contest being over[edit]

People continue adding votes and comments. Should the debate page be locked and a new contest started? (Editor at) CP:no intelligence allowed 05:12, 3 July 2008 (EDT)

Done, my first protection.... I hope I didn't screw anything up SirChuckBI have very poor judgement 06:55, 3 July 2008 (EDT)
