Economic zombie ideas[edit]

Article says neoliberalism is a zombie idea because John Quiggin, a literal nobody said that in an opinion (read, not academic) article in 2010. By a nobody, I meant that even some Austrians, like Peter BoettkeWikipedia are more important them him. It was written in a time when Post-Keynesian economists started a manufactroversy about a paradigm switch that didn't happen and Quiggin was one of the fathers of this manufactroversy.

The article also quotes Krugman in an opinion (read, not academic) artice. However, Krugman, the academic, says on his textbook:

Experience suggests, (...), that public ownership as a solution to the problem of natural monopoly often works badly in practice. One reason is that publicly owned firms are often less eager than private companies to keep costs down or offer high - quality products. Another is that publicly owned companies all too often end up serving political interests—providing contracts or jobs to people with the right connections. For example, Amtrak has notoriously provided train service at a loss to destinations that attract few passengers—but that are located in the districts of influential members of Congress.

I'd like some academic, peer reviewed sources that the ideas. GeeJayK (talk) 21:38, 11 February 2022 (UTC)

The neoliberalism thing struck me as fishy too, but I included it in the list of things that have been called zombie ideas anyways because, well, it’s been called a zombie idea. Allgoodusernamesweretaken (talk) 22:33, 11 February 2022 (UTC)

Redundancy[edit]

What does this article cover that PRATT doesn't? Plutocow (talk) 21:53, 11 February 2022 (UTC)

Agreed. Arguably, this is just a different way to say the same exact concept.-Flandres (talk) 22:01, 11 February 2022 (UTC)
I didn’t think of it, but yeah, this seems to be the same thing. The only difference I can see is that some things listed on this page are not currently listed on the PRATT page. Allgoodusernamesweretaken (talk) 22:27, 11 February 2022 (UTC)
