Forum:I have an idea for a new article
Knowing there are Young Earth Creationist colleges that teach Biology, Chemistry and Physics (Including Biophysics) I figured an analysis page could be made about their science programs. In it also compare their science programs with secular colleges and universities. --Rationalzombie94 (talk) 20:37, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
- That needs some serious boots-on-the-ground work to track down syllabuses, course requirements, reading materials, and the like. I can't imagine a substantive article without quite a bit of original research. This isn't wikipedia so original research would be okay, but it's still a lot of work. ikanreed You probably didn't deserve that 20:39, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
I will add some links to college websites so research can be done-
- Michigan State University undergraduate programs- http://www.reg.msu.edu/AcademicPrograms/Programs.aspx?PType=UN
- Bob Jones University programs- http://www.bju.edu/academics/programs/
- University of Michigan programs- https://www.umich.edu/academics/
- Harvard University- https://www.gsas.harvard.edu/programs_of_study/degree_programs.php
- Pensacola Christian College programs- http://www.pcci.edu/academics/
I have to go, I am using a library computer, I will add more links when I can.--Rationalzombie94 (talk) 21:02, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
- Harvard? Really? Michigan State and Uni of Michigan are also respected traditional universities; I can't find anything to associate them with a YEC approach to science. WèàšèìòìďMethinks it is a Weasel 22:08, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
- ^. I suggest you go to Category:Fundie schools and find into about those; your research might also fit better at Fundie school than on its own article. Herr FuzzyKatzenPotato (talk/stalk) 22:24, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
That would be a better idea than my original idea, also I was talking about a side by side comparison between good schools and YEC schools. I was not talking about associating good schools with terrible schools.--Rationalzombie94 (talk) 15:02, 20 March 2015 (UTC)
- This sounds like a lot of work, but would be a lot of useful work. Go for it - David Gerard (talk) 18:06, 20 March 2015 (UTC)
I will get a start on it, I am going to call it "Analysis of Science Degrees at Young Earth Creationist colleges". If anyone has better names then just reply.--Rationalzombie94 (talk) 15:23, 21 March 2015 (UTC)
I will finish the BJU science section tomorrow and then add an analysis section to it. In the article I added course requirements and descriptions from the website. Talk about mind numbing. --Rationalzombie94 (talk) 18:28, 22 March 2015 (UTC)
