PowderSmokeAndLeather: Say something once, why say it again?.Moderator 00:18, 21 January 2014 (UTC)

"It is known (by whom?) many of the "science" professors got their undergraduate degrees from BJU then got their PhD's from good universities (really? do you have any examples?), (This should be the start of a new sentence) you would think (don't tell me what I would think) by going to a good college you would learn creationism is nonsense (depends what you study, I imagine. They don't teach that sort of thing in accounting departments, for example. More to the point, people are free to reject any idea they are confronted with) but that is not the case." Try again. More tips.[edit]

Articles need links to other articles. Articles need to be linked to FROM other articles. And they need categories. And stubby articles could use the "stub" template. You'll get there. PowderSmokeAndLeather (talk) 17:53, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

It's means "it is". Its is possessive. Also, your attempts at "snark" were wretched. Consider whether anyone wishing to learn something about the ICR, rather than just come here to bask in your editorial glory and personal opinion, might appreciate your contribution. Please stop using the forums for the wrong kinds of discussion, you even edited the talk page and article that comment could have gone on! Please add a few references[edit]

Hey there. I noticed you recently created a few pages: Biola University, Georgia Christian University, and Oval Bible College. Good work! However, I noticed that all contain some pretty specific claims such as "They teach creationism as fact", "Bible studies make up 30 credit hours of every degree program", "This school teaches Young Earth Creationism", "Students must sign a statement of faith", and more. We're not as stringent as Wikipedia when it comes to referencing, but pages without any references are rather frowned upon, especially if it makes very specific claims. Could you perhaps add these references to these pages? The basic procedure is just adding <ref>http://...</ref> right after the claim. Also see Help:References for some more advanced usage and styling tips. Thanks! Carpetsmoker (talk) 02:25, 14 October 2015 (UTC)

Just a little something[edit]

Hello! I saw your thread in the Saloon Bar, and your post made me think about ways in which I might be able to be of any help to you — even in the smallest of ways. So, I decided to put together a little playlist of videos that I hope will lend you any type of food-for-thought, serenity or — fingers crossed — even useful advice for when things are tough.

Now, granted, these are really intended for when you're feeling well enough to view videos and think in therapeutic terms. But since they're of use even to people without schizophrenia, they should be general enough to perhaps offer you something as well. This is my humble hope, and I don't expect much. But in my mind — that is, to me — they help "grease the gears" of therapeutic thinking. I wish you the same, if nothing else.

You can pick and choose freely based on which titles seem the most interesting, but I've chosen them all in an attempt to be relevant towards your the problems you mentioned in the Saloon Bar (except for schizophrenia — none of them deals directly with that, though most if not all "deal indirectly" with it). That is, the videos I've chosen are all focused around the sensation of making mistakes and blaming oneself, on directing powerful negative emotion toward oneself, and (one video) on coherency of thought.

The videos are all taken from School Of Life, a channel I highly recommend, which skillfully unites a modern psychoanalytic thinking with philosophy, science and the history of ideas. Each is about 5 minutes long, and some closer to 10 — meaning, they're all just about the right length to sow interesting thoughts in your mind without turning into lectures.

The three main picks I strongly advise you to see first[edit]

  1. Overcoming Bad Inner Voices
  2. Why You Shouldn't Trust Your Feelings
  3. On Being Out of Touch With One's Feelings

On guilt, shame, and negative feelings directed against the self[edit]

  1. Why Introspection Matters
  2. The Weakness of Strength
  3. Self Sabotage
  4. Self Compassion
  5. The Importance of Self-Pity
  6. Why We're All So Anxious
  7. Confidence

On coherency in thought[edit]

  1. What is the Stream of Consciousness?

I wish you all the best, and I hope they're of any use at all. And remember, don't hesitate to get in contact with professionals, should you need it. You're brave to do so! Th hug.gif All the best, Reverend Black Percy (talk) 00:37, 3 December 2016 (UTC)

Thank you, I will get to them when I can. It was a long day and I really am not in the mood to watch YouTube videos but I will watch most likely tomorrow. Anyways I really am happy that someone I don't know wants to help. Thank you and I will being watching tomorrow in my spare time. THANK YOU SO MUCH TO LEND A HAND< I REALLY MEAN IT! THIS MAKES ME VERY HAPPY!!!!!!!!! May the divine bless you, even thinking about someone's suffering and wanting to help is a very compassionate gesture. I will watch when I can! :) --Rationalzombie94 (talk) 01:16, 3 December 2016 (UTC)
That makes me happy to hear, too! I hope you will find the videos produced by School of Life as remarkably lucid and thought-provoking as I do. And thanks for not watching them until you're in the mood — that just means you're giving the videos (and yourself) a fair chance! No Shame[edit]

Hey, I just want to say power to you for being open about your mental health. I've always been a big proponent of getting rid of the stigma around discussing mental health, since I have some issues, and when people like yourself speak up it encourages me to be brave and speak up to.

My motto is "No Shame" when it comes to asking for help with problems, but I felt the need to come to your talk page and let you know what you did took balls. If you ever want to talk, I'll do my best to listen. Diogenes of Wilmington (talk) 08:05, 4 December 2016 (UTC)

Well the reason I am up front with people about my mental health is to determine my actual friends and those who are phony friends, I am glad I am getting support.--Rationalzombie94 (talk) 15:59, 4 December 2016 (UTC)

I'm interrested in your belief in omnitheism, which has always attracted me (I'm personally divided between atheism and omnitheism). Do you believe, like the bible describes, that God rules on other gods ? Or another form of omnitheism ? Diacelium (talk) 20:32, 5 December 2016 (UTC)

I do not believe the Christian God is the supreme God but equal among the other Gods/Goddesses and serves a role in maintaining the universe. Now two weeks ago I was having a chat on Facebook IM with the head of the Wiccan church known as the Aquarian Tabernacle Church and she did not like the idea that I believe in the Christian God with every other God thought of by man plus ones that alien lifeforms thought of. Last time I checked Wiccans are supposed to respect someone's spiritual path, correct me if I am wrong. Then again, a religious belief system can teach freedom and independence but the ones leading a church can become corrupt and extremist.--Rationalzombie94 (talk) 23:20, 5 December 2016 (UTC)
Hm... what do you think of the gods of parody religion like the Invisible Pink Unicorn or the Flying Spaghetti Monster? What about pantheistic gods like Spinoza's God? And gods that haven't been revealed yet? And concerning the theistic egalitarianism: You said that god is equal among the other Gods/Godesses, but some religions have a some sort of hierarchy. Take the ancient Greek or Roman pantheon, for example... in these religions, Zeus/Jupiter ranks higher than the other gods (I'll just take the masculine form from now on). Who is the Christian God, for example, equal to? Zeus or Athena? --Imaginative username (talk) 14:10, 1 February 2017 (UTC) Theism; Just gonna say equally fictional. Bias on steroids[edit]

The article on the unaccredited, Neopagan College of Inner Awareness, Metaphysical, and Spiritual Studies has an argument against classifying it as a diploma mill, yet the nationally accredited Pensacola Christian College, which has a full fledged residential campus, and for which the same arguments would apply, is a diploma mill according to its article. Really? I can appreciate different opinions, but either people here are completely clueless about PCC, completely clueless of CMS, deliberately distributing conflicting information, or just on some good drugs. Ricky's Wiki (talk) 19:27, 9 March 2017 (UTC)

I was not the one who listed Pensacola Christian College as a Diploma mill.--Rationalzombie94 (talk) 13:10, 10 March 2017 (UTC)
I agree, using the term "diploma mill" is a bit harsh in the context of Pensacola Community College. I've softened the language in the introductory paragraph a bit. Regards, Cosmikdebris (talk) 20:15, 10 March 2017 (UTC)

I don't know how to do this, exactly, but I'm looking to deliver a foley sample for your newest EAS. I am bored, and I haven't put in the work I was supposed to for a while so here is some foley camera click, edited from about 2.75 to just under 3 seconds, I left the outside and inside in as proof I'm fuckin workin. I am working on an outdoor mic voice filter also, but it's a million stages away from done. This is kind of made to be a little closer to camera than direct mic, and totally unfinished for any final product, but you can have it as is, I don't mind. Also, that loss of momentum and final click is not part of what was edited, that was me just being ok with my clicks. I would never leave voice in foley. Gol Sarnitt (talk) 03:44, 1 May 2020 (UTC)

I am Police Captain Gordan Burke, of the Michigan State Police Department, I wish everyone well.

Today I am delivering, what is, a message of the utmost importance. Michigan has been placed under a state of emergency.

I would ask every person living in the state of Michigan to, please, listen carefully.

As of today, all drinking water and ground water in Livingston and Eaton Counties has been deemed unusable, for any purpose. Water lines and water mains to homes in these counties are beomg shut off for the safety and well-being of the individuals potentially affected.

On behalf of the Michigan State Police Department, We are asking residents of these counties and counties nearby, to please comply and assist in any way possible with all police activity I also want to assure everyone that the Michigan State Police Department is still barevely active through this State of Emergency, in order to protect the citizens of our great state.

Under the current state of emergecy,

The United States Army National Guard and Army Reserve has been deloyed to assist in mitigating this crisis They will be providing clean drinking water to the areas affected. The Michigan State Police Department is asking, please, do everything you can to assist in the proper distribution of this water.

Any improper use of water is currently considered criminal, and will be subject to arrest and imprisonment

AGAIN, we stress that all drinking water and ground water in Livingston and Eaton Couties has been deeemed unusable FOR ANY PURPOSE.

That is the information I currently have, I will be taking no questions. — Unsigned, by: Gol Sarnitt / talk / contribs

Have a question: what were the first thoughts that made you realize that you were trans? --Boterham (talk) 01:06, 1 July 2021 (UTC)
Honestly, it’s kind of hard to describe. I’d had a lot of thoughts since I’ve as young like “wow it’d be nice to be a hot goth girl” or like “I wish I could see what having a vagina was like”, but I didn’t really put two and two together. Eventually, I met my best friend who is trans and has been for longer than me. After talking to him and some other trans people, I just gradually realised that I felt better when I’d go places presenting feminine, or when people called me my female name/pronouns. There wasn’t any real, sudden realisation for me. It was more just a process of gradually trying it more and more until I became more comfortable with it, and then realising that being trans was the only explanation. I guess I’d just suggest, maybe try experimenting with how you present and stuff with your close friends, and see how it goes. 🖤 ASELAនិយាយ 🖤 05:33, 1 July 2021 (UTC)

I've been a very naughty boy[edit]

Been serious tho, why on earth does this template exist at all? BeardOfZeus (talk) 00:46, 8 September 2021 (UTC)

A little note on syntax[edit]

Periods go before the references, not after. E.g. "Vlad Putin is a jerk.[1]" instead of "Vlad Putin is a jerk [2]." Plutocow (talk) 22:48, 20 March 2022 (UTC)

Seriously, it's something that's so simple to fix, and I am tired of having to fix it every time you edit. Please pay attention to how people proofread your edits. Plutocow (talk) 00:07, 11 April 2022 (UTC)

Only use them if you are separating two clauses that are complete sentences on their own; if the second clause would be considered a sentence fragment on its own, then use a regular comma. Plutocow (talk) 20:09, 12 May 2022 (UTC)

Since you're big into Emergency Alert System stuff...[edit]

What do you make of the Qanon heads obsessing over the EBS (sic)? Does their stuck-in-the-80s terminology (EBS) grate your nerves as much as it does me? (talk) 17:05, 11 January 2023 (UTC)

It irks me. It is the EAS, not the EBS. It was changed in 1997. --Trans Zombie Queen (talk) 21:39, 11 January 2023 (UTC)
That’s exactly how I feel about it. I cringe every time I hear some conspiracy theorist (I have a few in my circle, unfortunately) mention how Trump is going to activate the “EBS”. I guess we could assume that their terminology is accurate, however, in that they put the BS in EBS. (talk) 20:44, 14 January 2023 (UTC)
Anytime I hear the EBS used past 1997 is frustrating. Makes me want to shout. --Trans Zombie Queen (talk) 02:06, 15 January 2023 (UTC)

You might want to update your user page[edit]

Your user page still says, "I am a proud Non-Binary person." You now identify as female, don't you? I think you might want to update that. Spud (talk) 02:21, 29 March 2023 (UTC)

I will get to that. --Trans Fem Agenda 12:11, 29 March 2023 (UTC)

On zombies + politics in fiction[edit]

I remember reading some earlier Saloon Bar discussions where you discussed ideas for some zombie story or potential book you were working on. Maybe the ideas/projects changed over time, but in any case I remember one where you had the idea of a totalitarian alt-right terror reign ran by zombies, and discussed wanting to combine zombies with the ideas of baddies in power and dystopian societies. But others were skeptical, countering that zombies work best as, basically, mindless monsters who are simply all frenzy and no ideology. The discussion simply died out there.

Anyway, I have a possible solution, for zombie stories with that combination. Maybe I'll write a short story of my own, later, but I don't have any great zombie fiction ambition like you apparently do. But maybe you'll find the idea interesting.

What if you simply slow down the disease progress leading up to the mindless zombies who lumber through streets in search for brains? What if it takes years, maybe even a decade or even two, before a person who falls ill turns into a full-fledged zombie? Such a slow process would allow for a range of more subtly diseased semi-zombie people, who can have a warped psychology which becomes inhuman long before they physically look obviously ill. These crazed persons may possibly even try to conquer the world, while instinctively feeling that the end is coming and trying to avoid that by fighting it away out there in every possible way.

I'm simply thinking of satirizing alt-right movements, who view the great majority -- all others -- as zombies because they do not "wake up" to the truthy alternative facts-based reality which the alties redefine moment after moment so as to always be in the right.

So, the very short version: What if the first thing happening when catching the "zombie disease" is that the brain is affected, and the understanding of reality becomes flattened down into a simpler caricature, with the emotional landscape also gradually warping more and more? Soon, there may be groups of people protesting in the streets and claiming that the world is threatened by the great zombie majority and their evil leaders -- psychological projection also kicking in at a super-strength as part of the illness. Years later, the up-and-coming zombie leaders try to take over society through political campaigns, etc. The next decade, small groups of full-blown zombies -- among the first to degenerate fully -- rampage the streets, in a growing problem the world suddenly faces; where did all this come from, the masses cry out? Meanwhile, the infected semi-zombies invent explanations which blame all of the non-zombies and flip everything around. A greater upheaveal is brewing... --ApooftGnegiol (talk) 12:22, 2 April 2023 (UTC)

Seems interesting. --Trans Fem Agenda 21:20, 2 April 2023 (UTC)

Culture wars in Michigan[edit]

Hi, I don't know where you live in Michigan, but you might find this article on the Ottawa County government informative ("In a thriving Michigan county, a community goes to war with itself Ottawa County offers a glimpse of what happens when one of the building blocks of American democracy is consumed by ideological battles"). Bongolian (talk) 19:07, 22 April 2023 (UTC)

I am nowhere near Ottawa County. --Trans Fem Agenda 19:09, 22 April 2023 (UTC)
Oops, didn't give the link.[1] Bongolian (talk) 19:49, 22 April 2023 (UTC)

I'm not asexual[edit]

I don't consider myself to be asexual. I just am not interested in sexual activities as such. Ggall (talk) 13:08, 2 August 2023 (UTC)

I just suggested it as a possibility. --Trans Fem Agenda 13:44, 2 August 2023 (UTC)

Black is one of THE saddest songs I know of[edit]

Top 5 for sure, Refreshments is kinda a cover over. I don't have a way for you to communicate with me privately, but I want you to know I have spent a night of my life weeping, sobbing, tears and snot, ugly crying, listening to that that specific song on repeat. Shit is tough all over, music is special. I can't actually be there for you, but I'm always in your corner. Torrent (talk) 08:49, 15 February 2024 (UTC)

Good song though. --Trans Fem Agenda 14:10, 15 February 2024 (UTC)
