You folks really need a Facebook page. I know about 100+ people alone that would "like" it and it would be a way to get supporters in a huge way. — Unsigned, by: 151.213.215.214 / talk / contribs 17:13, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
- try searching facebook and you'll find there's been a group for a couple of years now. But that would take actually using the searchbox on facebook, so it's obviously too much like work. Totnesmartin (talk) 17:16, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

- Would people join if it meant losing anonymity? I wouldn't trust certain people with the knowledge of people's real names and their internet identities. Bondurant (talk) 17:21, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
- Well, apart from the two obvious ones, I don't think I can match up real names to the people. It'd probably be funnier not to do it - by "it", I mean "exchange real names and usernames" and therefore just leave it to a hilarious guessing game. narchist 17:24, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
- That was going to be my point before the Man from Totnes cruelly EC'd me. --PsyGremlinFale! 17:26, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

- Strikes me as a good idea, actually. Anyone else here on ArseBook? - David Gerard (talk) 17:48, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
- searching for "RationalWiki" gives me 500 groups, but the one above isn't in the first few pages. I got as far as a Boycott Match of the Day group before I gave up. What gives? RW is in the description!
- At the top of the "groups" seach I get "Ayn Rand" fans... eugh. Although since the post on the 1 million group there are a lot of people reposting that pop up on searches. It might be worth someone setting up a fan page rather than group, though I'd suggest Trent do it for reasons of it being "official". I know he'd hate that, but as point of contact and all, it's best from him. narchist 21:25, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
- Is Trent even on FB? Would he start an account just to start a fan group that he then walks away from? Totnesmartin (talk) 21:28, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
- I have several family members of a younger cohort than I that will only use facebook to communicate, god forbid I try and call them. Several friends are even worse. So I do have a facebook, though I try and keep it relatively down low because my inner curmudgeon has never dealt with social networking very well. I, however, have no idea how to do anything beyond log in and reply to messages. I would need more explicit instructions to set something up. tmtoulouse 21:48, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
- I thought you left Facebook because you were using it to stalk someone? Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 21:53, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
- Er, that's not what I said, the issue was I was in a complicated relationship with someone, and facebook was making it more complicated by its infernal need to tell me constantly what that person was up to. It felt like I was stalking, and elicited feelings I didn't like. So I erased that account, but have since created a new one for the only purpose of communicating with a few family members and friends. tmtoulouse 21:56, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
- Oh. Sorry about that—my memory must be failing me. I apologize if I embarrassed you. Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 23:00, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
- Not sure that I'd join an RW facebook page. I value my semi-privacy. Acei9 21:58, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
- (EC)That's why I said a "fan page" rather than group. Although I've never set myself up one at all, it's kind of like a separate account. You don't need an FB account to start one and you don't get listed as a "founding member" as you do with groups. I was just suggesting Trent do it for reasons of making it "official" but I suppose it doesn't really have to be. narchist 21:58, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

- How about if I set it up and make you an admin? Totnesmartin (talk) 22:00, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
- The issue with me doing it is that I don't really know Facebook well and I would not be inclined to do much in terms of its maintenance. If someone has more interest and experience in this department we can delegate them our Facebook George Patton or something. tmtoulouse 22:02, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
- Okay, I reckon Totnes boy should do it. If my stalking powers are good, he's made some FB posts on the Icewedge founded group. narchist 22:06, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Wow, I really am the only other regular using their real name here. (It just never occurred to me to do otherwise.) If you need a real-named user, I actually look at ArseBook occasionally. - David Gerard (talk) 23:06, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
