Forum:Thoughts on Mad Max: Fury Road and the nonsensical controversies it spawned

For some reason, a lot of radicals of varying types, especially MRAs, have been taking offence to Mad Max: Fury Road (a great action film if you're into that sort of thing). What are your thoughts on the film? What are your thoughts on the more political critics?
- I initially didn't want to see it because the trailers were advertising stuff I hate in films; slow motion action scenes where they pause the entire movie just to remind you that they have special effects, rather than using the special effects to you know, tell the story. But it's been getting rave reviews, so I think I'll check it out. CorruptUser (talk) 15:08, 29 May 2015 (UTC)
- I haven't seen it, I've heard good things though, but I've heard of the controversy. I don't really get it. These people that portray themselves as tough, no-nonsense, real men are crying like little children because there is a female lead character that acts like a normal human being. If they aren't tough enough to watch a movie with a woman not broken to be subservient to the point they could be replaced by a houseplant without effect on the plot...that's sad. Worse comes to worse, as many have said in the past about films many MRAs like, if they don't like it then don't go see it. -EmeraldCityWanderer (talk) 15:16, 29 May 2015 (UTC)
- Having a female lead was what made the first two Alien movies so awful, right? Next they'll complain about The Green Lantern being black. CorruptUser (talk) 15:23, 29 May 2015 (UTC)
- Did you not know that they did? Not these particular people. But the same kind of idiots when John Stewart was introduced. Or chosen for the Justice League cartoon. They definitely raised a stink about Ultimate Spiderman being replaced by a black kid(after Parker died). So... I'm not sure your concern is timely. ikanreed You probably didn't deserve that 15:50, 29 May 2015 (UTC)
- I grew up with John Stewart as the Justice League's Green Lantern. Fuck you if you want to take that away from me! If you want to hate black people, hate Kwame from Captain Planet. Fuck Kwame, that smug douche. "Oh I'm so perfect and in touch with nature", boooring. Wheeler was clearly the best Planeteer, even though the flamethrower ring was the least useful one. - I'll take it that you're a fan of Linkara? - Radical Zap
- No, this is the perfect Captain Planet. --Castaigne (talk) 17:42, 29 May 2015 (UTC)
- The best thing about Captain Planet was Whoopi as Gaia. - Smerdis of Tlön, LOAD "*", 8, 1. 04:17, 30 May 2015 (UTC)

- Not only was one of the Green Lanterns black, but his name was Jon Stewart. It's controversy-bait for sure - Radical Zap
- No, the best thing about Captain Planet was Tim Curry as MAL. CorruptUser (talk) 04:20, 30 May 2015 (UTC)
