I think this should be moved to Jinx baiting.... Any objections? SirChuckBA product of Affirmative Action 19:25, 6 August 2008 (EDT)

no, go aheeads. DogP 19:25, 6 August 2008 (EDT)
Wow, someone really ran with this! ħumanUser talk:Human 19:31, 6 August 2008 (EDT)
That was me... I meant to just add a few little jokes, but it kept coming... and for some reason, I was doing my Don Adams impression the whole time... Must be all the Get Smart I watched last night... SirChuckBA product of Affirmative Action 19:33, 6 August 2008 (EDT)
HUman - don't fix all the tyops! DogP 19:40, 6 August 2008 (EDT)
Did I fix any at all? I think there should be a lot more, some words are still spelled correctly. ħumanUser talk:Human 20:10, 6 August 2008 (EDT)

Sorry, I fixed the rules before reading the talk page. :) I think the rules should be rfee of tyops, though, being as their an official documnet and all. On a different note, is someone allowed to explain whether "12. Cavemen (See number 2)" [1] is an in-joke or not? I feel like it ought to read "12. Cavemen (See number 9)". --Marty 23:22, 6 August 2008 (EDT)

Hehe, yeah I saw that. The reason I think it needs more typos is to make it really obvious to anyone that they are intentional. And every section needs a hidden comment reminding helpful copyeditors of this ;) ħumanUser talk:Human 23:24, 6 August 2008 (EDT)

Tactics, a Warning[edit]

While the temptation is really high to add things to the tactics list (especially when new things set off little Jinxyou're still a prick I would strongly advise against that as the list will become very burdensome and lose the humorous quality. Much like the greatest Liberal songs thing, this could sprial downhill very quickly SirChuckBA product of Affirmative Action 16:55, 7 August 2008 (EDT)

Aw, I think that songlist is pretty cool. Huge, but what a great resource! However, I agree with you on the list, I think some haven't even been used, and it should be pared for clarity and lulz. ħumanUser talk:Human 17:15, 7 August 2008 (EDT)
The only I'd ask to remain is Weird Al... The joke there is that he's a parodist... If you look at Jinx's block log, it's pretty clear he hates them... SirChuckBA product of Affirmative Action 19:28, 7 August 2008 (EDT)
Yeah, but he's not a very good one. How about just listing "Parody", as a weapon or tactic of mockery? ħumanUser talk:Human 20:42, 7 August 2008 (EDT)
Are you crazy? Weird Al is easily the best parodist in the last 20 years... Maybe even more... SirChuckBA product of Affirmative Action 21:35, 7 August 2008 (EDT)
Oh... are you sure? I kind of think of him as a one-trick pony with the franchise on parodies of pop songs and not much else. What about some of what, say, SNL does? Or better yet, the Jon Stewart/Stephen Colbert tag team? Oh well, I'm not going to argue if you insist, I just thought it looked out of place. Can we at least link the word "parody" to Jickles' block log? ħumanUser talk:Human 14:29, 8 August 2008 (EDT)
You don't seem to know Al all that well, then. At least half of every album he puts out is original material, rather than song parodies, and a lot of it's very good. Hardware Store is a good example, but all through his career he's done fantastic non-parody humour work. But yeah, if you're restricting yourself to parody only, he basically sticks to what works for him, but it's not all current stuff. I mean, he only parodied American Piea couple of years back, and that's not exactly current. --Kels 00:24, 25 August 2008 (EDT)
Interesting, I suppose I should explore him more? For the funny? Since the parody ("Eat it") just underwhelms me. Links to yootoob for the good stuff? ħumanUser talk:Human 00:37, 25 August 2008 (EDT)
That's fine with me, But don't try and change the subject here, Human (you should use your real first name and last initial) I don't really consider SNL's stuff very good... It usually doesn't have staying power for more than a few weeks, they're original songs are much better than their parodies (Dick in a Box, Big Toe, Pump the Bird, etc) and I haven't known Stewart/Colbert to do any parodies.... SirChuckBA product of Affirmative Action 14:55, 8 August 2008 (EDT)
Jon Stewart hosts a parody news show; Colbert's show is a parody of, mostly, Bill O'Reilly. Colbert's show is 100% parody, day in, day out. I agree that most of what SNL does is pretty ephemereal - but sometimes they come up with something good (of course, then they usually run it into the ground by doing it every week until the actor leaves the show...). I know if I had the choice of two hours of "best of" Yankovic, Colbert, or SNL, I wouldn't pick Al. But as I said, if you think he belongs as the ultimate in parody, I won't get in your way (however, I think Colbert would be a better choice due to the nature of his parody). I go look into those songs you mentioned now... ħumanUser talk:Human

15:16, 8 August 2008 (EDT) (unindent) I've identified the trouble.... We're speaking of two different kinds of parody. You're talking parody in general, I'm referring to song parodies. I'll agree that Al is more of a musician than Colbert. But I would consider him more satire than parody. Al does have some very funny interviews he's doen for ALTV (Eminem and the triple negative comes to mind) but I think we're on the right track now SirChuckBA product of Affirmative Action 17:37, 8 August 2008 (EDT)

Yah, I figured that out, too... by the way, have you seen Colbert play and sing? He's uh, pretty good. Jammin' with Willie, Frampton & Neilson, etc. ħumanUser talk:Human 18:00, 8 August 2008 (EDT)

Oh Jinx, you scamp[edit]

That was surely orignal.... I don't know how you manage to do it... You take a fairly well recieved article that works a pretty high minded premise and make a complete mockery of it with masterbation and semen jokes.... HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. You know, I haven't seen wit like this since we stopped teaching our Freshman improv in intro to theatre (they all did sex/gay/piss/drug jokes and they weren't funny... Of course they knew they were hilarious.) On a more serious note though, can we come to a comprimise on this misspelling thing.... I know it's intentional, but it's so annoying. SirChuckBA product of Affirmative Action 17:41, 8 August 2008 (EDT)

Sure, let's misspell every word! It's not like we're garbling real information. I prefer to make them typo-esque, like the originals that inspired them - switching two letters, especially if it's one of those right hand/left hand things like "teh". ħumanUser talk:Human 18:02, 8 August 2008 (EDT)

Poplar[edit]

Is this an intentional spelling error to bait Jinx or an accident (it gets hard to tell after a while)? 22:27, 9 August 2008 (EDT)

Okay the article is full of such things, I am going to take this as a joke at Jinx. 22:30, 9 August 2008 (EDT)

Best of fun?[edit]

Please do not archive this section

This is just so utterly silly, I think it deserves to be in the BoF category, and thus get randomly featured on the main page. If only to honor Jinx hi Jinx! in all its stupidity/glory. Other people's thoughts? ħumanUser talk:Human 23:25, 24 August 2008 (EDT)

I'd love to see it happen.... I think it's on of the better Fun articles. SirChuckBA product of Affirmative Action 23:28, 24 August 2008 (EDT)

Sounds to me like a quorum of drunks have chimed in, which is the best we can put together. Who wants to add the cat? ħumanUser talk:Human 23:38, 24 August 2008 (EDT)
Apparently SusanG threw herself on our sword and front paged it. Good for her. I hope we don't regret this ;) ħumanUser talk:Human 00:45, 25 August 2008 (EDT)
This article is almost so good it belongs in the main space if it wasn't against our policy. 192.43.227.18 00:48, 25 August 2008 (EDT)
Personally, I love the misplellings (OK, I may have created a few of them). It's just... yes. Perfect. ħumanUser talk:Human 00:54, 25 August 2008 (EDT)

Pixie and Dixie[edit]

These meeces made a living out of Jinx baiting - why no mention? BeastmasterGeneral 07:48, 9 September 2008 (EDT)

Because you haven't written it yet? ħumanUser talk:Human 12:45, 9 September 2008 (EDT)

Recent Schukkys, anyone?[edit]

I'm not sure we've had a good Schukky in a long time. Has anyone invited the Jinx to play recently? DogP 14:16, 29 January 2009 (EST)

Still Best Of?[edit]

Jinxy having faded (largely) from activity, I think this should be "de-bested" - it's very incrowdy and old incrowdy at that. SusanG  ContribsTalk 09:38, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

But it is still good stuff. Most of our fun article are not actually funny, this is at least. - π 09:39, 1 March 2010 (UTC)
I agree with Susan - it's very insider, and fairly masturbatory. It certainly shouldn't be one of our Best Of articles. DogPMarmite Patrol 02:42, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
This isn't even that funny. I wasn't there when the joke was fresh and I don't get it. For something to be both 'best of' and 'funny' at the same time, it should be humorous to most everybody regardless if they were there when the trend or whatever was current. ±Knightoftldrsig.pngKnightOfTL;DRsufficiently advanced argument still distinguishable from magic 01:42, 27 February 2013 (UTC)
As the original creator (I think) it's still funny to me, but I guess you have to know Jinx and the history... SirChuckBI have very poor judgement 02:44, 27 February 2013 (UTC)
Ahhh jinx-baiting. I used to love it when he came around. he had the most amusing turns of phrase. (Penis boned stuffed butts was a favourite of mine). Acei9 03:11, 27 February 2013 (UTC)
This kind of stuff is why I fell in love with RW. I felt a strong kinship with people I like who have similar senses of humor. That's all but dead and gone now that RW has been taken over by joyless aspies. This page is definitely funny. It's not the "best" of funny anymore. Me too. I rather enjoyed a bit of Jinx baiting myself (it was me who tracked down and pieced together his WP edits on the Valley of the Horses. Unfortunately people who weren't here when all that was going on will find this article rather tedious and unfunny in the extreme. Fuck'em. --DamoHi 03:24, 27 February 2013 (UTC)
Fuck em in the ass with greased alligators. Acei9 03:44, 27 February 2013 (UTC)
