Rename[edit]

From Fun:Skydiving to Bloody terrifying:Skydiving. Totnesmartin 08:27, 6 April 2009 (EDT)

But, but...it's FUN! (at least after your chute opens). The bloody terrifying part is sitting cramped up in the aircraft thinking how did I get into this mess. Secret Squirrel 08:37, 6 April 2009 (EDT)

Brainstar?[edit]

A Fun: space article I actually laughed out loud at. Where do we keep the brainstars for such things? - David Gerard (talk) 02:28, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

Just go to Squirrel's talk page and compliment him. There is also the "best of fun" category. ħumanUser talk:Human 05:08, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
Plz to send da complamintz by wiring encrypted digital gold currency to my sekrit Cayman Islands bank account, preferably routed via the Principality of Sealand to avoid any, shall we say, Imperial entanglements. Or just drop a nickel in the jar every time you say "squirrel". Secret Squirrel (talk) 12:42, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
Teh Squirrel is one of our most consistently funny contributors. And has also reported on many nuts in mainspace. It's a specialty, I guess. ħumanUser talk:Human 12:46, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

No-code license[edit]

Even when you had a no-code license, you did have to take an exam, at least in the US and Canada. This would be more like bribing an Elmer to watch while you use his equipment. Imarcuson (talk) 03:22, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

Comment removed[edit]

The prior ham radio license grade analogy (something for nothing and are too lazy to do it right) is not entirely appropriate. I bet it was written by a ham skydiver with a high grade ham ticket.
Here is a tandem jumper who has an Extra Class ham license (the highest):

Here are experienced solo skydivers AF6IM, KC6TYD and KF6WRW who hold Extra, General and Technician class licenses respectively: http://www.arrl.org/news/parachute-mobile-group-to-hold-jump-in-conjunction-with-pacificon
They all respect each other.
The point is that not everybody who wants to do a hobby or sport has the talent or temperment to reach the sport's highest levels. I have been a skydiver for 47 years and don't look down on tandem jumpers at all. I don't see them as lazy or trying to get something for nothing. It takes guts to jump even if you are strapped to an expert.

Not to be confused with ...[edit]

... sky pilots (unless they indulge in this hobby). 82.44.143.26 (talk) 17:49, 12 July 2016 (UTC)
