Discussion about the article, unrelated to gamergate, but related to the reviewing of games[edit]

"Pointing out issues with race, gender, and sexuality in video games' stories should be just as important as highlighting game breaking bugs, terrible graphics, and subpar gameplay."

I don't think that terrible graphics is an as important issue as subpar gameplay already. Extra Credits has already pointed out that graphics are there to serve the aesthetics. Terrible graphics are a non-issue if the game itself is still pleasing to look at and good graphics don't sell a pleasing aesthetic.

Game breaking bugs are also only an issue if they are unavoidable. Pokemon red has a ton of game breaking bugs, but it's not spectacularly awful because of them as they are avoidable if you play through the game how the developer intended. It is somewhat misleading to add it there.

Issues with race, gender and sexuality in video game stories is definitely an important issue that deserves addressing, but it can only work if the game already needs a story to begin with to introduce people to the gameplay. Extra Credits has already pointed out that it's a bad idea to make a game based on a storyline that people have in mind and shoehorning in the gameplay later.

If I had to literally rewrite only this paragraph it would be like this: "Issues with Race, Gender and Sexuality in video game stories definitely can not claim to be as important as an issue as subpar gameplay, but it should be brought up more often than other things that people often complain about despite being at their core trivial issues, such as terrible graphics."

Ethics in journalism, Neutrality Reporting and Censoring the opposing Narratives[edit]

A Quick brief so that this is actually included here instead of having even this part of the wiki co-opted by people trying to push a narrative;

firstly here is the addition i sought to add the the actual gamergate article after finding it to be horribly disingenuous ::

"GAMERGATE : The below account is only half the story, check your research and your integrity, you know maybe try to actually get the opinion of a pro GG'er instead of getting your information from the other wiki pages....

So #GamerGate started following a scandel around a games designer getting undue positive attention for a wholely underwhelming text based rpg after they engaged in explicit relations with writers and/or critics.

The below suggests that alot of harassment took place from the gaming community and basically concludes that games are sexist etc. because of this. Well, here are the official FBI reports on the matter :

Thats right internet, gamers do our own journalism now.

I left the original article intact for those who wish to see what the other side thinks (despite the fact that their narrative is basically labelling and adhom attacks, you only need to read the sort of "terrifying and fearful" language they use to know exactly whats going on here...) "

Clearly the perspective of an actual gamer is to much truth for the modders....— Unsigned, by: 86.156.83.148 / talk / contribs

No. GG has proven its own claims to be falsehoods. There is no more debate on this matter. ☭Comrade GC☭Ministry of Praise 16:20, 12 November 2018 (UTC)
Additionally, we've been called "biased" by pretty much everyone, despite our self-awareness of it. You have to make better arguments than accusing us of bias. --It's-a me, Lgm sigpic.png LeftyGreenMario! 18:14, 12 November 2018 (UTC)
