The official FBI Report on Gamergate[edit]

I suggest anyone who is reading this "talk" read the report from the FBI to know that every acusation that was investigated ultimately boiled down to baseless trolling and one really sorry/apologetic 15yr old gamer who joined onto gamergate in late 2014.

I would also argue that gamergate has been around unofficially since the early 2010's ever since atheism+ failed and the feminists began trying to co-opt a different group.

at least thats how long ive been watching this bullshit unfold its just unfortunate that i am both an atheist and a gamer....— Unsigned, by: / talk

Please discuss nominating the article to gold here, and please point out violations to the criteria here--Delibirda the Annoying Grammar Nazi (talk) 10:49, 14 April 2020 (UTC)

Seems this got overlooked. I can attest to this article being a "go to resource", since that's basically what it is and it's the best one I found on the internet when I was looking up stuff about Gamergate. Missionality; not even in question. The amount of crankery attached to this shitshow is honestly impressive. References galore, so that's not an issue either. Maybe some minor work could be done to keep "transient resources" preserved by using the templates we have dedicated to those, but otherwise I'd say "why didn't we frontpage this a while ago". I don't see a reason why not, its probably the most comprehensive post about it on the internet at this point Vorarchivist (talk) 18:37, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
Sources seem good and properly formatted. Wouldn't oppose promotion to gold. Pizza SLICE.gifChef Moosolini’s Ristorante ItalianoMake a Reservation 18:51, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
Is the subject matter still relevant to current events? I figure it carries a legacy, but the movement is dead. I figure some of the criteria for gold include relevancy to mission? --It's-a me, Lgm sigpic.png LeftyGreenMario! 21:01, 11 September 2020 (UTC)

It still comes up a lot in discussions of how the internet has become a much more toxic place. I think it has a lasting legacy. Pizza SLICE.gifChef Moosolini’s Ristorante ItalianoMake a Reservation 21:03, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
It's the prototype for almost all modern hate campaigns directed by the alt-right I'd say. The blueprint from which their attacks are all based on. Techpriest (I am Alpharius! / Pencil.png / Tux icon.png / Shield.png) 21:35, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
The movement is neither toxic nor hateful and they've never attacked anyone for any reason other than failing to do their jobs. — Unsigned, by: 2607:FB90:4033:9D80:F1C1:4CAB:3745:846E / talk

Talkpage protection[edit]

Does this article need to have an indefinitely protected talkpage? Would seem weird to have a gold article with an inaccessible talkpage. Pizza SLICE.gifChef Moosolini’s Ristorante ItalianoMake a Reservation 18:52, 11 September 2020 (UTC)

Just autoconfirmed protection, probably because GG is rather infamous for dragging in sealions and other bad faith editors. Techpriest (I am Alpharius! / Pencil.png / Tux icon.png / Shield.png) 19:05, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
If you can't justify your beliefs, you should be sealioned. — Unsigned, by: 2607:FB90:4033:9D80:F1C1:4CAB:3745:846E / talk
Does that apply to GamerGaters? Why would that be a problem? Where is the evidence of Quinn's wrongdoing? BumblingBuffoon (talk) 17:52, 17 November 2021 (UTC)

Dead links[edit]

I've noticed that a fair number of cited links are dead. We should probably start going through them to see if we can't find mirrors of the sources. Blitz (Complaints Box)

So, what do we do with the second Gamer™ war? Add it to this page or have a new one. Arcadium Trancefer (talk) 14:16, 10 July 2024 (UTC)
