Origins section[edit]
@DuceMoosolini Like I said in my edit summaries, I agree with your reasoning for removing the "Origins" section, e.g. the Founding Fathers clearly being of the opinion that teenagers with little life experience should not be entrusted with high political office because they'll probably bungle everything up. I just think that your solution (i.e. completely deleting the section) is excessive. I think it would be more effective to replace the last few sentences of that section with the Founding Fathers' reasoning for the lower age limits for positions in Congress or the Presidency. --Luigifan18 (talk) 23:11, 8 September 2024 (UTC)
- If the section is based on a bad premise, it should be removed.

- It started out well by listing the age requirements for major federal government positions, which is relevant information. And I get what it was going for in terms of the difficulty which a system that establishes minimum ages for political offices would face in terms of not becoming a gerontocracy, but, well, you're right that letting teenagers be congressmen and presidents wouldn't be a good idea. So instead of blaming the United States gerontocracy on the minimum ages, we should acknowledge it as a possible contributing factor, but then point out why the age limits would be put in place to begin with. (And I was about to do exactly that when the page was protected…) Like I said, I don't disagree with you — quite the opposite — I just think you went too far. --Luigifan18 (talk) 20:24, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
