Questioning[edit]
The definitions of GLBTQ I've seen define the Q as "Questioning." GLTB-Queer seems redundant, since queer covers GLBT (and other queer orientations such as zoosexuality). Dyskolos 01:10, 12 July 2007 (CDT)

- I think it should be moved to LGBT, which is the much more common variant, & this one should redirect. LGBT gives me 14 million Google pages, & GLBT only 4.5 million. (Incidentally, February is LGBT History Month in the UK). ₩€₳$€£ΘĪÐMethinks it is a Weasel 21:18, 12 February 2009 (EST)

Move to GBLT?[edit]
Problem, gays?
Or would they think that's a hate crime? I don't imagine a lot of these people have a sense of humor. Inquisitor Sasha Ehrenstein des Sturmkrieg Sector 05:36, 17 November 2012 (UTC)

- This has got to be some terrible snark about the heirarchy. Because complaining about the order of letters is so much more productive than actually addressing the issue. Polite Timesplitter talk to me sugar, but best keep it on thedown-low 18:33, 17 November 2012 (UTC)

A story of the long acronyms[edit]
So this was first gonna be about how I haven't found any mention of the acronym "LGBTTI2QQAP" at all in a good source. The most similar one I found is LGBTTIQQ2SA, which was used by Toronto Pride for a short while but they dropped it cuz it is was way too long.
But I found a more interesting story which I think is worth the mention. Right-wing media, at least in 2017, found the acronym "LGGBDTTTIQQAAPP" on a poster in a Canadian school. They went crazy with it, complaining about how PC culture has gone too far or something like that. There is probably a few incidents like this one, but I can't find a good way to fit it into the article. Should it even be worthy of a mention? --Theace (talk) 12:43, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
- A quick check seems to see a very similar acronym "LGBTTQQIAAP" (swap the I and eliminate the 2) mentioned in Wikipedia, BBC, and Pink News. It is an unwieldy term that I don't think even those with non-heterosexual preferences care for that much, and I don't think the term has fallen in common use. I'm fine with "LGBT+" or "LGBT" or whatever, it's just terms. There's actually a broad umbrella of alternative sexuality that includes both biological orientation preferences (homosexual/trans/etc.) as well as alternative sexual lifestyles / interests (which already have the "kink" and "fetish" umbrella terms) which have, to some degree, common problems (although of course with individual differences, there's enough similarities not to nitpick). The less time spent debating which term to use, the better. People who use the term "PC culture" tend to be right-wing "snowflakes", who tend to cherry-pick the worst of those unfortunate left-wingers that actually wield self-imagined Woke Rules of Order, and use it to justify their racism and homophobia. I'm not sure their hysterics fit well in this page either. Soundwave106 (talk) 14:01, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
- Stuff which seems like innocent humor within LGBT&c circles has a habit of getting into wider culture and proving more problematic. Some of the alphabet salad is, I would estimate, intentionally silly, while a little does embody toxic politics and gatekeeping within sections of LGBT+ culture.--Annanoon (talk) 14:42, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
Page name[edit]
This has been moved from "LGBT" to "LGBTQ+" to "LGBT+" to "LGBTQ" within the timeframe of a couple months. Before I do all the work like fixing double redirects that comes with moving an article like this, I'd like to make sure there's a consensus on what the page name should be.
