2025 RationalWiki 'Oregon Plan' Fundraiser

There is no RationalWiki without you. We are a small non-profit with no staff—we are hundreds of volunteers who document pseudoscience and crankery around the world every day. We will never allow ads because we must remain independent. We cannot rely on big donors with corresponding big agendas. We are not the largest website around, but we believe we play an important role in defending truth and objectivity.

Fighting pseudoscience isn't free.
We are 100% user-supported! Help and donate $5, $10, $20 or whatever you can today with PayPal Logo.png!

Appreciation[edit]

Thanks Kreg, Bongolian, Ikanreed for turning this into a good article. ShabiDOO 12:47, 13 March 2016 (UTC)

"Rational" hypocrites[edit]

Interesting that you apply a huge dose of skepticism to this treatment but fall for the "woo" peddled by the drugs companies. SSRIs are only effective for the top end of very severe depression (google Irving Kirsch) yet are marketed aggressively for mild depression and a whole range of fictional new illnesses such as social anxiety disorder (something we used to call shyness) and "Premenstrual dysphoric disorder" which were invented to create new patents. --81.146.34.242 (talk) 21:37, 4 September 2016 (UTC)

Actually, you are not entirely correct. We discussed the weak effect of pharmaceutical antidepressants here: Antidepressant#Placebo_effects. If you think this could be improved with better information, you could give it a try. Bongolian (talk) 22:06, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
You appear to deserve mention in our mental illness denial article, yourself. Reverend Black Percy (talk) 22:14, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
