Is this necessary? It might get used on a few articles (totalitarianism itself being the most obvious), but we already have Template:Communism, Template:fascism, and Template:Nazism. It also presents horseshoe theory in an entirely uncritical light, even more so than the article itself, which is bound to lead to arguments. Christopher (talk) 20:40, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- Shouldn't we have one for authoritarianism too then? Chef Moosolini’s Ristorante ItalianoMake a Reservation 20:41, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- I believe, yes, it is. It is a very special step beyond authoritarianism, which goes to unfathomable extremes to suppress indivdual rights. Christopher, by the way, what issues do you have with the horseshoe theory page? I am more than happy to work on changing it's overall tone if necessary. And Moosolini, I am not sure if we do need one for authoritarianism, primarily because totalitarianism is such a special extreme beyond authoritarianism itself. An authoritarianism sidebar might include a large chunk of the entire wiki haha. The Curly-haired Sea AnimalHere's the "Coral Kennel" 22:59, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- I have a lot of issues with the idea of horseshoe theory in general, and remember the article not being particularly critical, haven’t actually read it in years so it may have changed. A totalitarianism sidebar also includes a lot of the wiki, the problem is that it’s already covered. Most totalitarian regimes are communist or fascist, and we already have specific navbars for those ideologies, that was my main point. So far it’s only got one transclusion, the totalitarianism article itself, and I don’t foresee many more. Having a navbar that sees that little use just feels odd to me. - The horseshoe theory article is still uncritical, and why not just use the relevant category? ☭Comrade GC☭Ministry of Praise 23:10, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- Fair points both. So we think it should be removed until there is a need for it (if there ever arises one)? The Curly-haired Sea AnimalHere's the "Coral Kennel" 08:20, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
