Bible stuff[edit]
I am enjoying the new annotations you've added in recently. I've always found the parts of the RW Bible that have been written to be quite interesting. It has a lot more lively commentary and insightful snark (or should that be insightful commentary and lively snark?) compared to the Skeptics Annotated Bible, which often reads like a dry list of continuity errors in an IMDB goofs section. sshole 18:07, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
- Cheers, Arm. Exodus is one of my favourites for sheer batshit craziness. Considering the stupidity of the Hebrews I wonder why anyone would want to claim them as their ancestors? I'm trying to balance snark, like you said to avoid it becoming too dry, but let me know if it goes too far. Some of the annotation is a bit speculative, but then much of this stuff has no universally agreed-upon interpretation. Concernedresident omg!!! ponies!!! 18:41, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
- I think the balance is fine. I'm only against snark when it's at the expense of fact - and this is the sort of thing where "fact" isn't necessarily easy to come by, we have the unchanged words (well, for a certain value of "unchanged") of the Bible and that's fact enough. It's honest, which is all it needs to be. sshole 21:21, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
- Gheers. Yeah, that balance is important if we're going to avoid ending up with stuff that'd do better on Uncyclopedia. Now I'm tempted to rewrite the Bible -having God communicating exclusively through packs of dogs that bark morse code. If I dream of that tonight I shall wake up very happy. Concernedresident omg!!! ponies!!! 21:24, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
- Well, I've thought about a "Rationalists Bible" translation or perhaps a "Liberal Bible" translation as a mockery of a certain translation that will not be named. Except a) that's far too much work and b) will just not be as funny as it should be, particularly considering a. sshole 21:27, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah. I wonder sometimes how they managed to get so far in the Lolcat Bible. It's fun to look up specific verses to see how they came out, but the joke would kind of fizzle after a few hundred begats. Props to Andy and co for their dedication to their comedic effort. Maybe specific instances could be fun. Sermon on the mount could be something worth dismantling, but I think Iron Chariots already has a pretty decent dissection of it.Concernedresident omg!!! ponies!!! 21:31, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
- I can only assume that the LOLcat bible works by sheer weight of numbers. As for guys who have already done the analysis, I don't think there's much wrong in replicating the info. Just drop a hat tip every now and then, or add links for more information on particular sections - you know, where a point would go way beyond a mere annotation. sshole 22:04, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
- I'm normally a big fan of shifting external links in to footnotes, but that doesn't work well in the annotated dictionary articles. I'll chuck in some inline references. I think you're right about backing-up some of this stuff. Concernedresident omg!!! ponies!!! 22:08, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
- Ditto with the EL/footnotes thing. The thing about breaking it up is that sometimes there's a lot of info for one passage while not much info for whole chapters. It makes it look a little blank - but that's the nature of annotations, I suppose. sshole 23:10, 16 January 2011 (UTC)

Russian articles[edit]
I'll answer here on your reply in my talkpage. As for "gibberish". I think there is no difficult for any monolingual to check, are the articles "gibberish", or not. Furthermore, my activity is primely dedicated to the translation of already existing English articles.--Bertran (talk) 19:12, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, I wasn't suggesting the articles are gibberish - more that articles can always be removed or archived if we later become aware of serious issues. Realistically that applies to any article where we lack the expertise go fix them. It'd be the same situation of one of us here wrote an article about a particularly esoteric or hideously complicated subject. I'm a great admirer of what you're doing. Concernedresident omg!!! ponies!!! 12:39, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you for supporting. And I've understood what the problem. In this situation, it seems, I have no choice but to assure you that generally missions of English RW and its Russian section coincide and I do not agitate any pseudoscientific movement by the project. My attitude to the pseudoscience is the same, as RW's attitude.
- And, of course, there is another problem. As I understood User:ListenerX, he does not want Russian project to continue its
existingdevelopment. I guess I can not continue until this conflict is resolved.--Bertran (talk) 14:40, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
Journalism....[edit]
I can't link to my published writing without giving away my personal info however I can give you snippest of my writing style. Heh, mind the errors, grammatical and stylistic.
Some gibberish
and more

- Cheers Ace, I didn't think of the personal info thing. Concernedresident omg!!! ponies!!! 10:46, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
Bible Script[edit]
Hey CR, you probably expected a poke from some RW editor you've actually noticed before, but I downloaded your script for a whirl and it seems to work just fine. In fact, when I clicked the file it was already open and ready to run in Script Editor. I just had to type your examples in the descriptions and it seemed to work fine. For example, 2 Timothy 3:1 gave "2 Timothy 3:1". However, it soon started telling me that it was unable to locate the chapter in my reference. This even applies to the examples which have already worked. Am I missing something simple here? --Danfly (talk) 22:07, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
- Cheers Dan. It could be worth checking what's in the clipboard, but if still happens the it'd help a lot if you could tell me the clipboard contents and the exact error. It's a bit fiddly, so I'm tempted to either have the script automatically copy and paste, or try writing a Safari or Firefix extension to do the same. Haven't bumped in to you for a while. All going well for you? Concernedresident omg!!! ponies!!! 22:59, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
All is going very well for me indeed. Thanks. Have some fieldwork to take care of before Feb 1st and am a little stressed, but I'm pretty good over all. I'm stuck with college computers right now, so I need to get home before I can check your script again. How are you? --Danfly (talk) 13:00, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
- Good, ta. Busy at work, and I have a fractured bone in my hand - hence the bad typing. Plenty of time though for doing the silly things. Concernedresident omg!!! ponies!!! 13:49, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
"Web of trust"[edit]
Can you find something germane to link to that article? Many thanks. P-Foster (talk) 03:29, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
- I found one connected article, but I really need to get around to writing a more general introduction to encryption. Concernedresident omg!!! ponies!!! 18:39, 1 February 2011 (UTC)

How have things been? ТyTalk. 14:55, 27 March 2011 (UTC)
- Not bad cheers. Had some stuff on my mind for a while that left me drifting like some kind of wiki-based Littlest Hobo, but right now things seem nice and stable. Anything new for you? Concernedresident omg!!! ponies!!! 14:58, 27 March 2011 (UTC)
- Not really. Mostly just college. ТyTalk. 14:59, 27 March 2011 (UTC)
- Anything odd happen while I was farting about elsewhere? Seems that the usual crowd is largely still around. I noticed that Nx has buggered off, or else is socking in a form that doesn't get him yelled at whenever he changes something. Concernedresident omg!!! ponies!!! 15:01, 27 March 2011 (UTC)
- Nx and SusanG left. No socks of either as of yet. Human is barely active. Thunderkatz and I have become Bureaucrats. Mei returned, sorta. We have several more sidebar nav templates, and a move to fun-space template. ТyTalk. 15:05, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

re: Hammering wandals[edit]
Still, immensely satisfying to wield that banhammer--Brxbrx (talk) 12:44, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
- Heh, that it is. we typically only ban for weeks or months for spambots, legal issues, or when the mob concludes that someone is being a dick of truly monumental proportions. Enjoy the hammer. Concernedresident omg!!! ponies!!! 15:05, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
