brain thing[edit]
How do you get that moderator brain thing you have in your sig? MarcusCicero (talk) 23:02, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
- "I have been forced to enter mainstream politics. But this is merely a front for my more subversive activities, co-ordinating the revolutionary struggle and the creation of a 'vanguard' party that can lead the revolution. Vote for me, and liberty will be my first and only priority"
- Your people elected you Marcus with the spark of revolution in their eyes; are you forgetting that? The battle, sir, is not to for you alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave. If we were base enough to desire it, it is now too late to retire from the contest. There is no retreat but in submission and slavery! Our chains are forged! Their clanking may be heard on the boards of the moderatores! The war is inevitable -- and let it come! I repeat it, sir, let it come!
- We are watching you with worried anticipation; will you become part of the institution? Tielec01 (talk) 00:53, 10 July 2013 (UTC)
- Go into your preferences and add this as your sig: Marcus Cicero SPQR— Unsigned, by: Nutty Roux / talk / contribs
- My sig preference is , you would probably want something like MarcusCicero (talk. Генгисevolving 06:20, 10 July 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for taking care of that guy[edit]
For future reference, how do I rename other users? Or do I not have that authority as a mere sysop? Wehpudicabok [話] [変] 05:27, 5 August 2013 (UTC)
- I think that's a mod function. In the LH Toolbox I have a "Rename user" function. ГенгисYou have the right to be offended; and I have the right to offend you. 05:35, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

Why?[edit]
This seems like a reasonable edit, so I'm curious as to your reason for reverting. Is there something I'm missing here? Thanks - Doctor Dark (talk) 00:09, 17 September 2013 (UTC)
- Butterfingers I'm afraid. I now read RW mostly on a tablet and it's just too easy to tap the wrong link - especially rollbacks and undos. I don't normally follow the Citzendium page so was probably intending to check a diff on another article. I've undone my action, thanks for spotting it. EDX[edit]
Hi. Saw your post in the bar about this. Looks interesting. Care to say any more about it - about the methodology and the experience that is.--Bob"I think you'll find it's more complicated than that." 09:18, 13 October 2013 (UTC)
- The course is free. There are about an hour or so of video lectures to watch each week - usually in 10 minute chunks - some online readings and some multiple-choice questions. There are also a mid-term and final exams. Deadlines on these online courses is variable, this one has a fairly flexible schedule with just the exams requiring fixed submission dates. The course is 12 weeks long and started 2 weeks ago, I heard about it on the Why Evolution is True blog. All of these MOOCs have discussion forums which you ar encouraged to participate in. It's a long time ago when I was in university so things have changed and it's a good opportunity to ensure that I'm up to date on the topic. There is absolutely nothing to lose by signing up for the course if you decide it's not for you. The videos are also available on YouTube. Of course the information is freely available but engaging in a course imparts some discipline to the leaning experience and ensures that you comprehend it. - Thanks for that. It looks like a really good way to smarten up my cyberloafing. I'm looking for something I like now. I see there are certificates you can get hold of as well. Do you go for those? I can't seem to see any pricing?--Bob"I think you'll find it's more complicated than that." 10:03, 13 October 2013 (UTC)
- This is my first EdX course, I've done about 10 with Coursera. The certificates are just PDFs which you have to print out yourself. The courses and certificates are free, but width Coursera you can pay about $60 for Signature Track which is a way of certifying that you are the genuine holder of the certificate rather than someone doing the quizzes for you. The standards vary with some courses being relatively easy while others are quite demanding, particularly in the sciences. I did an Introduction to Astronomy course and it took me back to uni-level physics. Some courses I don't have time to commit to in full so I just download the material for my later edification others I stick at to get the certificate. For me the certificate means little in career terms but some people add them to their CVs. I'm doing an intro to Dinosaur Palaeobiolgy and you can pay to have a proper qualification equivalent to a university module, but that costs something like $300, so far I haven't paid a thing for any of the courses. Mostly these are North America centred but some European unis also do courses. A group of British unis have formed Future Learn which goes live in the next few months.
