User is a man ubx[edit]

Did you draw the graphic for your "user is a woman" ubx? I'd like one in a similar style, with a more masculine torso, and the arrow pointing down instead, slogan "I'm down here". Any way I could convince you to draw one like that? --jtltalk 22:43, 1 June 2007 (CDT)

to the Official RationalWiki Art Director. If people upload lame drawings and such, you may yell at them, and give an official seal of approval to those which you find to be of sufficient quality. ----Linus(plot evil tech) 15:14, 9 June 2007 (CDT)

Dammit, I knew being a responsible and trustworthy individual would come back to bite me in the ass! --Kels 15:31, 9 June 2007 (CDT)
Speaking of which, I had a drawing assignment for you. To better illustrate the article on cunt, I think we should have a cubist "interpretation" of the organ itself. Who better to demand such from than the official Art Director? humanbe in 15:38, 9 June 2007 (CDT)
Good heavens, cubism!? I'll try, although I've never really done abstracts before. And I haven't forgotten the assignment from jtl, I'll get on that sometime over the next couple of days. --Kels 15:40, 9 June 2007 (CDT)
And now we see the real agenda here. Human, if Kels doesn't want the assignment, maybe this would be helpful for you. --jtltalk 15:43, 9 June 2007 (CDT)
Oh, and, PS, congratulations! We appreciate your contributions and I have enjoyed learning from them! I hope to see even more now that you weild the mighty sword of (some muse). You're doing a heckuva job, Kelseigh! humanbe in 15:46, 9 June 2007 (CDT)

Hmm[edit]

Are you who I think you are? DanH 22:22, 28 June 2007 (CDT)

If you think I'm someone from CP, no. I'm proud to say I've never even attempted to get an account there, let alone edited. Only CP-related place I've been other than here was commenting on CP Column Other than that, you'd have to give me a bit more to go on. --Kels 06:50, 29 June 2007 (CDT)

Just saw the reference to Halifax on your profile and was wondering. DanH 13:02, 29 June 2007 (CDT)

Well, I am from Nova Scotia, and lived between Halifax and Dartmouth over the course of 19 years. I was pretty active in the SF, fantasy, anime and pagan communities during that time. --Kels 13:05, 29 June 2007 (CDT)

Sorry, I was getting silly and punny. You fixed the "grammer" on the fight club quote in Bureaucrats. While writing i saw Kels and Grammer. I dare you to figure it out (apologies). ДιЯɖі$ɧ ɥοםЄʟβЯƏакĐΩωΝ 14:07, 29 June 2007 (CDT)
I was sorta dimly grasping it, but I had no idea what prompted it. I get it now, blah on me for not catching on. --Kels 14:10, 29 June 2007 (CDT)
Oh, and here's a weird coincidence. Grammer actually filmed a movie in Dartmouth, NS, when I was living there, and did a Christmas scene (in mid-summer, natch) using the furniture store owned by another branch of my family as a backdrop. Changed the name on the sign of course, but it was kinda cool. --Kels 14:22, 29 June 2007 (CDT)

A humble request[edit]

I didn't get the Boston marriage article at all, nor several others. I think its painfully clear that I am out of my depth in providing meaningful direction for RW in terms of social and cultural articles. I have got a million ideas for science, psuedoscience, and all that jazz but I am totally floundering with the other stuff. But I do believe it is really important for RW to cover it in a meaningful way. Since we can not be all things at all times I need help! I am asking you, merely asking with no obligation at all, if you would be willing to take of the cause of directing RW in the kinds of articles we need and how they should be written.

As PAL put it we have an existential question at RW which is, how are we going to NOT be wikipedia? I think we have a clear idea for the science stuff on how we are going to do that, how we are going to provide something meaningful apart from and complimentary too wikipedia. I don't think we have done that with other categories of articles. I am sure there are many out there that will help you, we just need someone how knows their stuff and really cares to get a vision and start gently pushing the site in that direction. I think you would be awesome for the job if you wanted it. Think it over! Tmtoulouse 10:11, 9 July 2007 (CDT)

I'd like to add that cultural articles are a great open area. The bit RWfication of them would be in showing flaws in other's arguments, and the harm this has caused. For instance, the fact that AIDS first became apparent in gay males marginalized the disease for a long time, allowing it to spread unchecked and poorly treated. Forcing people to live in the closet has hurt them physically and economically. So, an article about closeted lifestyles could include lots of juicy stuff, including the debunking of homosexuals as bad parents, not eligible for adoption, all that.--PalMD-Goatspeed! 12:45, 9 July 2007 (CDT)
Hey, T., I'd suggest that if you don't quite "get" an article, or why it exists, start a discussion on the talk page (and alert any principal authors) before moving it to ACD. Boston Marriage is a bit tongue-in-cheek, but it is relatively factual and may be all that is needed in the article. Per Doc's arguments re: homosexuality, closeted, above. humanbe in 13:00, 9 July 2007 (CDT)

Sex[edit]

Now that I have your attention... come play with me at Category:Sexuality, I wrote an overview article that I think is not too bad, and I also wandalized a couple that you (I think) had started. I rainbow flagged a few, intending to head towards one of those cool navbox things like the CP articles have. humanbe in 21:26, 10 July 2007 (CDT)

Sure, it okay to wait until tomorrow? I'm just not up to thinking tonight. --Kels 22:19, 10 July 2007 (CDT)
Of course, whenever is fine. Just wanted to let you know I was trying to tie all the sex stuff together a bit. humanbe in 00:42, 11 July 2007 (CDT)

I may have written LGBT drunk, and as such it may be a bit, um, attitudinal, but I hope you approve and welcome your input, as always. humanbe in 22:53, 11 July 2007 (CDT)

Dossier stuff[edit]

Is for real. Observe, emails from Unnamed Sysop:

  • E-mail 1: "This will sound creepy, but... you and the rest of the crew have dossiers in CP Intelligence which does contain _____'s name. "
  • E-mail 2: "The info isn't used to stalk your family, but to create a pysch profile."

However, TK does believe that the information is used to stalk and threaten. Or at least he implied as much to me.-αmεσ (!) 14:17, 22 July 2007 (CDT)

Huh. Well, even if it is true, unless there's something out in the open, it doesn't belong in the section about what people say, since nobody publicly said it. Maybe in the Delusions section or something? --Kels 14:22, 22 July 2007 (CDT)
It's probably a safe bet that TK is the only person over at CP actively compiling information about Rationalwiki users. He's already threatened people with using info against them - see this: http://www.rationalwiki.com/wiki/User:Tmtoulouse/chat_logs_and_or_emails_from_tk Last year TK was removed as an Admin for another website (HotorNot) for compiling info on members and using it to harass them. And Ames, you already know about the games that TK plays. I think Kels was right to remove it from the front page 85.195.123.24 16:45, 22 July 2007 (CDT)

You're right to remove it. I think it would belong in Delusions, though. I just want people to know how crazy they are... -αmεσ (!) 21:06, 22 July 2007 (CDT)

Agreed, although honestly if you don't have anything to back it up, it comes off as rumour. Although a very believable rumour. --Kels 21:08, 22 July 2007 (CDT)

E-mails, and TK flouting his knowledge of my personal life to freak me out, don't count as proof? -αmεσ (!) 21:10, 22 July 2007 (CDT)

I meant things you can link to. As far as proof of stalking and so forth, I'd say definitely it's proof. --Kels 21:11, 22 July 2007 (CDT)

All I want is people to know the caliber of individual, and the type of hate, that we're dealing with.-αmεσ (!) 21:13, 22 July 2007 (CDT)

Then by all means add it to the Delusions section. In fact, you might insert a reference in the main CP article, and in one or the other add as much of the background info as you feel comfortable releasing. --Kels 21:17, 22 July 2007 (CDT)
I didn't love the bizarre threats to talk to my hospital, etc, although they were irrelevant.--PalMD-Goatspeed! 21:38, 22 July 2007 (CDT)

Wanda[edit]

You mean the user Sterile? Hm, I'm not a sysop, so I'm not really sure what to do about it. But I think now that it's been discussed, human or someone is bound to have seen it. --Kels 17:09, 27 July 2007 (CDT)
I don't think I have - where is it? humanbe in 17:11, 27 July 2007 (CDT)
This one not very long ago, plus an accusation on Susan's talk page. --Kels 17:12, 27 July 2007 (CDT)
Checking edits, there were some useful typo fixes, that wandalism to the main page, and, yes, the random objectivity accusations. Shall we just keep an eye out, they aren't really causing any harm, and if we can't discuss ideology (political) versus a rational scientific attitude, who are we? By the way, the diff the IP used to back up their accusation (one diff) made our point anyway. Maybe they meant HG's desysopship, but HG at that point had permablocked himself with no reason stated. HG is now back and discussing the issue over at tmt's talk page. humanbe in 17:22, 27 July 2007 (CDT)
Totally agree, wonder why he didn't log in? Keepyour headdown 17:29, 27 July 2007 (CDT)

One question: your first edit in this conversation said that my vandalism went from amusing to offensive. Does this mean you thought my vandalism was amusing? Resident vandal
Not this one, but some of what I've seen in the past has been pretty cool. Although I'm hardly an expert on the stuff. I think what I was trying to say is that if you were trying to be funny, you stepped over the line between funny and offensive. But then, I don't know if you were trying to be funny in the first place. --Kels 18:25, 29 July 2007 (CDT)
The whole point was to try to say that there are other examples of fundamentalism/terrorism to criticize, using a current event to illustrate the point. The focus on only criticizing Christianity, despite the main page which says all fundamentalism is not really fair is it? And no, I know there is not just Islamic fundamentalism, but also Jewish, ecological, Sihk, or Irish and ultra-nationalist to criticize and examine. Perhaps this wasn't the best way to go about this goal. Resident vandal
From that, it seems you were making more of a statement than a joke. I understand what you're getting at, but (1) I don't think it's as big a problem here as that, and (2) I agree that the execution really didn't work out. While there does seem to be more concerning Christian fundamentalism here, for reasons you can find on your own talk page, that doesn't necessarily cover the attitudes of the whole group. Hopefully, we'll get a chance to criticize all sorts of folks! --Kels 18:40, 29 July 2007 (CDT)

I do hope he's not trying to lay a guilt trip on me (or you) 'cause it aint working. Keepoff the grass 22:54, 29 July 2007 (CDT)
No, no! No guilt. I have actually been meaning to take a wiki-break for a long time. It has nothing to do with anything that happened here. I just remembered I had this sock account that needs to be dealt with. Bohdan2
