feminism edits[edit]
I did some casual edits on feminism. No offense but I tried to show that today's feminism is opposed by far more than a few conservatives. As an Independent what pisses me off is the blatant abuse (and yet use) of our free speech standards by radical feminists. Professing Feminism is a real eye opener. I ask that you do a little research on some of the women I added so you can see for yourself what I am talking about. 128.111.95.110 00:53, 8 January 2008 (EST)
- It is a rather young political movement and as such is liable to be taken in directions that the most radical factions favor. I think this is natural and will shake out as time goes by. But yes, sometimes they sometimes sound rather fascist-like. CЯacke®
- I read some of this. The intro is weak (toned down version of what I thought). How about defining it, and "feminist analysis" (which is about power), before attacking feminism? Cripes... How about opening it with the quote? And, please, user:abunchofnumbers, how about creating an anonymous username and making it easier for us to get to know you? human 01:27, 8 January 2008 (EST)
- An IP can pretend it's not a real person. Once it gets a username, and, perhaps just as importantly, a decent userpage, the established users become far less forgiving of its bad writing and lame rhetoric. -- Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 03:03, 8 January 2008 (EST)
- As a political scientist (in academia no less!), I know about different kinds of feminism. I also know that the central aspects of feminism are still solid, even if its applications aren't always. Hence, I am a feminist. Researcher 05:35, 8 January 2008 (EST)
- Hear, hear. The only caveat to my claims to being a feminist is that I'm male. So I can be a "sympathyzer" at best. I'll never really know what it is like to live as a woman in this world. human 06:07, 8 January 2008 (EST)
- They have operations to fix that nowadays ;) -- Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 06:12, 8 January 2008 (EST)
- If you believe that women deserve full equality with men, that women deserve equal pay and equal representation, then you are (by definition) a liberal feminist. One does not have to be female to be a feminist. (For example, my GF has a pin that says "The proud girlfriend of a feminist boyfriend.) Researcher 06:18, 8 January 2008 (EST)
- Thanks (very much), but I still know that I do not know what it like to walk this life as a woman, no matter how much I try. Just as, as an anti-racist, I have no idea what it is like to walk the street in dark skin. I can only hope for a shadow of understanding, at best. PS, Nice button, I'm sure you earned it! human 06:26, 8 January 2008 (EST)
- Don't misunderstand--I have no idea either. But you can still call yourself a feminist. (Actually, one of my main reasons for being pro-choice is because I know that I will NEVER be in the situation to need to make that decision for myself.) Researcher 06:53, 8 January 2008 (EST)
- I'm pro-choice because my mother is, and I respect her opinion on the subject (being a mother and all).
(I wonder if that is a bad reason?)-- Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 16:17, 8 January 2008 (EST)- ...Well, that's not the whole truth. I had been swaying on the abortion issue, not sure which way to go, and I almost repudiated my pro-choice position until I ran across this brilliant essay. It finally cemented my position as firmly pro-choice. You absolutely have to read it. -- Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 16:31, 8 January 2008 (EST)

Annulment of corporate personhood[edit]
In your essay, you objected to a Constitutional amendment annulling corporate personhood. Well, I was hoping you would take a look at my take on the issue. Does it meet your criteria, or would you like to discuss refining (or eliminating) it? -- Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 23:09, 13 January 2008 (EST)
- I think it looks a lot better. I think it would make more sense to be included in the law that actually allows for the creation of corporations, rather than in the Constitution proper, but overall I think it looks good. (Make the individuals involved in the corp give money to candidates and put names to dollars.) Researcher 08:34, 14 January 2008 (EST)
- The trouble is that corps gained "human" rights due to Supreme Court interpretations of the Const. - and it's states that create the laws permitting corp. charters (well, pretty much Delaware, now...). Although, I have never researched in detail the specific decisions that gave us what we have now. I do like how RA worded it, though. human 08:40, 14 January 2008 (EST)
Good luck! Hope to see you soon again[edit]

Let me clarify...I'm not leaving. I'm just going to be pretty busy, and won't be on as often. (Honestly, my last job involved long spans of time doing nothing, which was when I usually did stuff on this page. I don't have that now.) Researcher 17:58, 20 January 2008 (EST)

I heard...[edit]
...that diplomacy is coming back into style ;) ħuman 22:53, 9 June 2008 (EDT)
- I hope so. Hopefully, in a couple of years it will also be in demand. One question: WTF is up with the John McCain ad I just saw at the bottom of the screen? Researcher 06:01, 10 June 2008 (EDT)
- The ads were introduced by Trent a while back, to much clamor and discussion. Of course, due to what we discuss, we see lots of really strange ads (lots of faith healers, etc.). I figure McCain is spending a lot of money, and so is blanketing as many terms as possible in their google ad campaign. By the way, if the ads annoy you, go to "my preferences", "skin", and choose the one that says "Monobook adfree". It's the same as the default appearance, but displays no ads. That reminds me, I have to feed the kitty again soon... ħuman 13:56, 10 June 2008 (EDT)
- I don't really mind, and will keep them up if it helps support the site. It's just...odd. Researcher 19:16, 10 June 2008 (EDT)
- They only help if people click on them, so if you don't plan on that, not looking at them does not "lose" the site anything. ħuman 19:25, 10 June 2008 (EDT)
- Well, in that case I best get to clicking. Even when it is *shudder* Newsmax. Researcher 19:26, 10 June 2008 (EDT)

American Exceptionalism[edit]

Thanks! I hope to start contributing fairly soon. Do you have suggestions on how I can start out? Alecwh 15:24, 26 November 2008 (EST)
- Find something (anything) that interests you, and start writing about it. In particular, if there's a kind of pseudoscience that drives you nuts, write about that or things related to it. I'm a social science guy, so that's most of what I write about. Researcher 15:26, 26 November 2008 (EST)

Senator page creations[edit]
I'm glad you're taking charge of the senator pages. But please add categories to the pages, so they can be referenced easier. Probably best to use the same type of formatting from John McCain's page:

As many people one RW go without compliment, I have to break rank and say thanks for your contributions. You seem to take subjects that are all but forgotten about by others and inject some life into them. Either you're just living up to your name, or you're someone who truly cares about getting our mainspace stuff to a high level of quality. sshole 02:06, 30 October 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks. It's been awhile since I've done anything on here in a large way (and it's entirely possible I'll drop off again later), but when a project gets in my head I have a hard time letting go entirely. (Hence my drive to start getting all of the Senators on here.) But I really do appreciate the compliment. Researcher 05:06, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

- Thanks. I just remembered that there is a Pagan seminary somewhere (South Carolina, maybe?), and it's the only one in the country, possibly the world. Because it's the only one, there's no real group to establish accreditation for it, and so I'm glad that it's able to operate without it. Researcher 19:42, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
