Espionage is the act of gathering information about a perceived enemy while hiding and lying about one's true identity and/or affiliation. Spies typically work for either international or domestic government agencies, but corporations also engage in espionage to obtain trade secrets. Spies have also been known to commit acts of sabotage and murder while undercover.
