Charles Eugene "Chip" Roy (1972–) is a representative of Texas and an American attorney. He formerly served as a chief of staff to Ted Cruz and worked for the Presidential campaign of Rick Perry, even ghostwriting Perry's book Fed Up.[1][2] (A book which Perry was later forced to distance himself from due to some of its more extreme libertarian claims.[3]) During his time working for Cruz, he helped the Senator work on his plan to defend Obamacare through shutting down the government.[4]

Early history[edit]

Roy hails from Bethesda, Maryland. His parents were conservatives and huge supporters of Ronald Reagan, which helped to shape his political views later in his life. After graduating from college, he spent three years working as an investment banker.

General stupidity[edit]

Roy has stated that he wishes for the "woke" military to "blow things up and kill people".[5]

Stopped Clock[edit]

Roy broke with his party and voted to end the backing of Saudi Arabia during their war in Yemen.[6] In 2021, he voted in favor of officially repealing the 2002 resolution which allowed the use of force against Iraq.[7]
